What OS Platform Is Everyone Using?

What are you folks using . . . Windows, OS X?

I'm late in making the switch with the rest of my family and friends. I'll be switching over to the Mac OS X for my personal rig at home, soon.

OS X here with Windows running under VM. I use OS X for day to day stuff and Windows for development platform/debugging/verifications. You will be happy with Mac for day to day stuff.

Sweet, looks like we have a Mac following, here. I missed the Mac some years back and went with XP Pro. However, after using my wife's Mac rig, for a period of time, I cannot seeing using anything else for my own personal use at home.

My daughter just got a new laptop installed with Linux. I'll be curious to see how she finds it in a few weeks time. She started off on a Mac set-up, as a kid.

I've been using Windows 7 for the past couple of months. Like it a lot!

I like to game, so no Mac for me.

the only AAPL device I own is my iPhone.

Hey, John . . . Good deal! You're on 7, eh? I didn't know that it was available yet. Good to read that it is performing well for you.

I figured that after XP, I would jump ship if and when I needed something new.

MS DOS!!! >.< C:\ hurry\the\f**k\up\in.loading !
JP..
WINDOWS XP-- I had a free conversion to VISTA when it was released, but I declined. --Vista has too many bugs, horrible compatibility and is a memory hog.
-- I've used LINUX at a prior job, it was horrible for business practices.
Although, LINUX has come a long way and is becoming somewhat user friendly, it still takes some learning to get comfortable with it.

one more thing, MAC/APPLE doesn't have many options for software or spare parts. At least w/PC we have more versatility and more options for platforms.
Not many options software-wise for Apple-- it's a good thing they allowed the use of Microsoft on their system as it would help to bridge that gap.
Also, for the price your going to pay apple, you can get the latest state-of-the-art top-line PC computer.
Save yourself some money, just buy SONY. They have great customer service and their products last.
If you want to save even more $$ , buy DELL. I've been buying dells for the past 8 Years and they have all been great computers. Very friendly to the wallet and often you can get great tech support packages with your computer for cheap. Whenever I have a problem, I call DELL and within 2-3 days, the replacement parts are at my door. Even when my warranty expired, I still got a free replacement on my charger and new hinges for my laptop =D

The nice thing about Mac these days are you can use VMWare/bootcamp/Parallel to run all your windows based app. Its much harder to run Mac OS in PCs. Also, you cannot beat Mac when it comes to ease of use and digital media management (photos, videos, etc). Im heavily in windows software development and using Mac is a blessing so far since I can also experiment with Mac platform (iPhone SDK, etc) without losing my Windows core apps. I agree that the price difference is quite substantial, but I would still get a Mac for my next laptop.

No questions . . . My previous and current Dells, laptop and desktops alike, have served me well over the years. Especially, when you consider the ease of modding these units. I guess, I'm simply ready for something new, at this time.

My 23 year old son is running Windows on his Mac. He loves it. It's the best of both worlds for him.
