They're white grubs chippie. Larva of a japenese beetle (most likely). There are several types of insecticide you can get to treat the soil. Even some that can be used around vegetables.

Happy bug killing

I think you nailed it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_beetle
Let the battle begin. I just need to be careful with the pesticides because of my dog. I think I will try the natural methods first.

SO Violent chippie!
What can I say. Some people lift weights to relieve stress, some drink, some crochet. My release is yard work. Swinging a pick, digging trenches, and growing vegies, flowers, etc...(and lately a lot of weeds). I work my azz off in my garden and i'm not gonna lose to a stupid bug. Slugs, snails, catepillers... God's creatures?!?! RAGE!

^LOL
Thats what I thought when I posted up about the Japenes beetles. Only people that own imports get them. You can always sell the G and the grubs will go bye bye

I use to run a nursery and garden department before chippie. I like to do gardening too...but not as much as you do

this works the best but dont know if you can use it around stuff you are eating.

http://www.bayeradvanced.com/product.../granules.html

grubs can eat the hell out of your lawn as well so if you had patches of dead grass or turning brown then you might want to put this down on your yard as well

Thanks. I will check it out. It will need to be pet friendly as well as for my vegies. G35 Papa, I did some more research and what I think I have are June bug grubs. It would make sense seeing is that we had a crap load of them last summer, probably due to the vegetable garden.

Ah....June bugs. Most insecticides that are around for grubs will kill both june and japanese beetle grubs. It's harder to find an insecticide safe for pets and veggies. There are some but not as abundant as the hazardous ones. There use to be a manufacturer called 'Safer' that had product available to use around veggies but I don't remember if it was also safe around pets. You can always go the "organic" Look up/read up on Nematodes.
