Damn over a year?? What did you do before?

My wife was laid off a few months ago, so definitely empathize with your situation. She used the time off to finish her degree though, so it wasn't all that bad. Still, hopefully the market picks up soon.

CHP puts 240 cadets into a class every three months. The money is already set aside for it, too. I've steered a couple of people to the dark side. Think about it. You can ride a bike, fly a plane, horseback mounted patrol, computer crimes, give G35's tickets for no front plate, hang glide, marijuana erradication, etc, etc....Ok, maybe not hang glide. I was picturing a few things Ponch and John used to do 'on the clock'.

Have you taken the POST test yet? I remember taking it about a year ago and it was super easy. As long as you know basic english, you should be good.

I heard Comcast in Livermore is hiring. Not sure on what positions, but might be worth a try. I always see those Swann Delivery trucks with Now hiring signs on them too.

Was self employed for ~5yrs, pre official recession killed it being my primary income. Self-employed = no EDD benefits. Been trying past career of 15+ yrs before own biz. AARP age with gray hairs, current valid credentials in past career in those many interviews. Law says can't discriminate against age...I know different.

Wife's job in danger (nurse) More hospital floor units closing, many lay-offs already + cutting staff hours. She's only part-time with hours cut same amount as full-timers...wtf.

Won't even mention our retirement nest egg needed soon down the road and what happened to that, what a joke.

You young folks will make it through this and be much better off in the future.

Times suck for older ppl and is very stressful.

Apologies on hijacking your thread farsey. Hope you and others land a job soon.
