Shops to get tires?

Hello,

I'm almost at 17k miles on my first set of tires and the rears feel pretty bald. I was wondering which tires everyone is using in our lovely bay area weather. Are there any good shops around that can mount/install without damaging the heck out of our rims? I am leaning towards the T1R, but there seems to be a lot of cheaper options out there too. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Try Larry's tires in Hayward and ask for Sal.

WTH? Its been more than year and half since the Bodega bay drive when I saw you last and you only have 17k miles on them?...Cant guaranty about not damaging the wheel part but if you want decent price on tires? pm Kris79, he was the guy who got oyster juice pour down his neck at dinner during that drive, if you remembered.

Really liked my old Dunlop Sport Maxx, but expensive tire.

Currently on Sumitomo HTRZ III's, but still too to new give my 02 on those.

Big O (Walnut Creek) matched Tire Racks prices for my Sumi's, but scratched polished dish on one while mounting = failed.

My cars have never seen and will never see snow (i.e. Tahoe), so all I run throughout the year even during the rainy winter/spring are "summer performance" tires. Sumitomo HTR Z III's and Falken FK452's are great bangs for the buck.

I perked up on the price matching but a scratch? boo. You know my history with scratches.

OP:I haven't found better pricing other than Tire Rack but if you can get someone to price match and just charge installation etc, that's a good deal.
I'm looking for someone to install mine when I order them. I figure I have a few months leeway.

whatever shop you go to make sure they adjust the duck head and make sure they use the pry bar condom which prevents the metal bar from hitting the rim directly and also depending on what you are looking for out of a tire will depend on what tire you are going to buy. Just remember you get what you pay for. I work at a wheel and tire shop so I see customers come and go with tires they like and tires they don't like.

thanks for the suggestions. It's still a pretty tough decision on which one to get since I have not had the chance to test everyone out. Too bad tirerack don't carry toyo's so I don't have anything to compare it with. I just recently had the Beshoff Tein special done on the G and was hoping the shop would also be able to do an alignment after the installation of the new tires.

limeg35: hehe yah i've probably only put on 2k since the bodega bay meet, haven't really taken her anywhere other than around town.
