Man found shot dead in San Jose Convention Center parking garage
Police looked for clues Saturday night after a man was found shot to death in the parking garage of the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.

At 8:51 p.m. dispatchers received a phone call saying a man had been shot in the garage. When officers arrived at the 100 block of West San Carlos, they found an unresponsive man, possibly an African-American in his mid- to late 20s, said Sgt. Ronnie Lopez, a spokesman for the San Jose Police Department.
"He had grave injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene," said Lopez.

No weapon was found at the scene, and police as of late Saturday night had not yet identified the victim. It was the 20th homicide of the year in San Jose. The city ended 2008 with 32 homicides, and had 36 in 2007.

Roughly 8,000 to 10,000 people were on hand at the convention center Saturday night for the DUB Show Tour car show, an event featuring custom cars owned by celebrities, lowriders, motorcycles and hip-hop musicians that ran from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Lopez said the victim was found in the parking area and not in any area that was part of the show.

Lets just say the inconvenience was horrible. The show was over about 830 and the mass of people started clearing out inside the show. About 9PM they gave the word to start clearing the vehicles out. As alot of the cars were lining up to leave they cops gave the call that they were locking down everything. No cars were allowed out of the show and the parking garage was locked down as well. We were literally stuck inside the building for almost 3 hours. It did give us an opportunity to do a small photoshoot. We were finally able to physically roll out of the building around midnight after police took pictures of our plates and our licenses. The show itself was slammed with people. Pics will be posted later...

At least we were able to walk around, people in the parking garage couldn't leave their cars.

Ditto. There were a lot of people really pissed off outside. The police wouldn't let anyone in or out of the building. We ended up walking around to get a bite to eat and by 12:30, the cops decided that the owners of the cars in the front rows were able to get to their cars. However the effected areas (middle rows and back rows) weren't able to get their cars. The cops told the owners to pick up their cars later on this afternoon. By 1 am i was able to get to my car. Cops had looked at the drivers ID, took pictures of the drivers and their car.
