After a month of driving my G without a front license, I finally get pulled over at City College of San Francisco.
I was dropping off my brother at school and when I was making my way out of the campus, a police car made a left turn directly in front of me. At this point, I was already thinking "oh ****...". I thought of making a right turn and hoping she didn't notice it yet, but I figured there were a lot of people here without front plates anyway so I should be okay.

Nope.

She pulled over a little closer to the side and stopped, so I went ahead and passed her.
About 5 seconds later, the siren goes off and I pull over.
She tells me she pulled me over for not having a front license plate. I tell her it fell off at home and I didn't have time to fix it yet as I had to get to class but no cigar.
She walks back to her car to write the ticket, and as I sat there disappointed with my tough luck I notice two BMW's on the other side of the road also without front plates.

Sigh... careful guys if you go to City. (I saw a few G's there today too, an IP and I think a DG and AB)

Luckily it was just a fix-it ticket, and she didn't notice my tint. I can go to a CHP office and get it signed off without paying a fine right? First time I ever got pulled over, so I really don't know what I'm supposed to do.

You have to pay the fine i think it was like 20 or 30 after you get it signed off or you can opt to pay 100 bucks and not have it signed off.

I work of Geneva and have no front plate and pass cops all the time and they just look and I wave.

Front plate tickets are no big deal. I've gotten one and had it signed off the same week. It is kind of a pain to have to pay a fine for it even after you've corrected the violation though. Just be thankful you didn't get cited for something more expensive/difficult to take care of.

Also keep in mind SF is one of the few cities where you can be ticketed for no front plate while parked/not in your car. Wonder how I know

I find this soo stupid that these cops are not cops when they should be out there solving crimes. A stupid fix it ticket. I am going to go rob a f***ing bank and get away w/ it. I know all the cops are just writing tickets.

Because writing bs tickets like this and running plates and checking licenses is how they find actual criminals.

Luckily for me, I couldn't drive in SF even if I wanted to.

Tough luck but cops are always going to find a way to hassle people.

Millbrae can be worse. All of the tickets I've gotten for any mods are from there. Not San Jose, Fremont, Milpitas, or San Francisco, but Millbrae and just south of SF.

Honestly at the end of the day you can't fault a person for doing what they are paid to do, especially if you're breaking the rules. I think cars look much better without a front plate but of course I acknowledge that there are risks associated with that to begin with.

I always thought it was technically legal, in California to have the front plate left out of the equation so long as you had one on the back.

To my knowledge there are no places where it is technically "legal" in California. Some places are more relaxed about it though. I've had my front plate off for years and only have been ticketed for it once.
