The G just got wrecked!

Long story short......the G got rear ended on the freeway by a F-150 or F-250 truck! The back end, inner and outer trunk, exhaust pipe, left side panels......etc are all shot. The funny thing was that my 4080 box saved the laptop in the trunk and kept the trucks bumper from going in any deeper. The trucks bumber hit above the G's aluminum bumber and directly into the trunk frame. It's all warped to ****! I'll post some pics later. I am debating on where to take it for repairs and also what to keep stock or just go aftermarket on some pieces since they need to be replaced anyways. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Holy shlt Eric, I'm so sorry to hear that. The car is just metal- I hope you and your girl are alright.

If the car is not going to be totalled, I suggest you have it taken to International Autobody- they'll work with you/your insurance to replace the parts with OEM or better pieces.

You can look at the bright side- we don't have to do your brakes this week...

Oh yeah, can you PM me your PayPal addy?

Aw man, sorry to hear that.

Definitely go aftermarket on what you can since even the best aftermarket stuff is cheaper than OEM.

Son-ova- Sorry to hear about that Eric! Like Boris said, you guys are ok so that's what's important. At least there's no argument about "at-fault" so you should be well taken care-of. Push for a loaner right now!

SH** that sucks...escpecially w/ all the hardwork into your carputer. sry dude!

i've always wondered how car insurance treats our aftermarket parts. i was told they only cover for replacement w/ OEM. let us know how it goes...

+1 for Intl Autobody

Eric . . . Glad to read that there were no serious bodily injuries. Whatever you may decide to do, I trust that you get your car up and running soon. It's always a good day when we can walk away from an accident.

Another great body shop is Kennedy Autobody and Paint in Redwood City. They work on Ferraris routinely...

Glad you're ok!

sorry to hear about the car. glad everyone is okay.

looks like the damage is mostly cosmetic.

rear bumper cover : $192
rear bumper absorber: $60
trunk lid: $458
taillight: $253
rear qtr panel: $420

i'm sure there are a bunch of miscellaneous ****. have your adjuster just total out the rear of the car, this way they don't try to nitpick and only pay for one rear taillight. when i got into my accident, the insurance covered both front headlights even though only one was damaged.

time to go to ebay and shop for spare parts. if you can provide the body shop with parts, you'll have leftover money to spend on aftermarket stuff.

good luck.

Thanks for the tips and support fellas. I just had the estimate done...around 15K, and towed to the body shop. I worked out a deal with the shop since it's such a big repair and they wanted the business....free repaint of the front bumper to get rid of the rock chips, and touch ups where needed. They're also going to give me the busted tailights and spoiler so I can play with the LED's for a project I had in mind. The good news is no injuries, the bad...I spent 7 hours fully detailing the G on Saturday,(clay bar, paint cleaner,polish,p21swax..etc) and last week I completed and housed the new carPC. Now its 3 weeks until I get the G back and at least another month after until I can mount the CarPc into the cubby since I'll be recovering from knee surgery. And to top it off, looks like I'm going to be driving the 4 door civic for a while. Kinda feels like life just gave me a kick in the nads!

Wow. And I just saw your girl driving it on Saturday I think. She was pulling outta the Chevron station on 19th and Irving and I was across the street in the Starbucks lot. I said to my friends "Damn, Eric has a nice G" too. Looks like I jinxed it.

The name of the body shop would be helpful, since I might have to take my G into the shop versus having it totaled out. I'm located in north San Jose...any info would be helpful.
