Seattle recommendations for engine block heater/battery heater install for G35 Sedan?
Seattle recommendations for engine block heater/battery heater install for G35 Sedan?
Guys,
Having a bit of a problem finding (via online) someone reputable (either dealer or independent) that can install an engine block heater and battery blanket for my 04 6MT Sedan? I know almost no one in Seattle has a requirement for such a setup, but does anyone have any recs for a reliable repair/parts store that can do such an install?
Background (because I know I'd be wondering the same if I saw this post
).
I am/have been in South Korea for the last two years plus (military) and my car is back in the Seattle are with my wife who is doing a master's at UW Seattle. I will be leaving Korea in two months, picking the car up, and driving it cross-country to lower Alabama for a two month school. THEN driving back to Seattle to spend the holidays with my family, then going on to Fairbanks, Alaska in early January for my next assignment.
Now, you can see my issue with needing to get the engine block heater/battery blanket/winter tires (I can most likely figure that one out--but if you have recommendations, feel free as I would be appreciative) installed in the two or three weeks I have in Seattle during December. Been researching the boards for the last week or so and coming up bust?
Any thoughts on people that you have used and would recommend for parts install?
Thanks,
G

I would recommend you get it done in Anchorage, AK. Every car there has this done so i'm sure you'll have no problem finding a place to do it for you fairly quickly. I think you'd have more luck getting it done in Anchorage on your way to Fairbanks then in Seattle. Anyways GL
Thanks for the info...actually hadn't thought of Anchorage, so that's a good lead.
Concerning not bringing the G to Fairbanks...I had SERIOUSLY considered that. However my wife's practicality wins out...car is very low mileage and paid off. Before she weighed in (correctly in all probability or I'd be looking for a replacement), I was looking at many an AWD (4WD would be better short term in Alaska...but gas prices). Ugh.
So get the G35 to Fairbanks in the middle of an Alaskan winter is the plan. After that, expect me to buy a third "beater" at 10-13k that is AWD so that I can actually enjoy the wilderness up there.
Honestly, my driving to Fairbanks in winter in the G is my biggest concern with this move right now. Go figure.
