Yes, he did. He'll pay sales tax when he registers it in WA.

I paid the tax on the difference of trade-in & purchase price ( had the dealership roll it all up ) I won't have to pay sales tax when I register it, the dealership will send the sales tax money to the state of WA. I drove my Coupe down & picked up the G37S.

Apparently they already had a buyer for my coupe when I got there LOL!

Are you sure? From the way it was explained to me, if my car(which I purchased from california) left the dealership in my possession and driven even a single mile on california roads, that I had to pay california sales tax even though the car was going to be registered in Oregon(no sales tax).

I'm positive. They have something called a "One Trip" which gives you 24 hours to leave the state, otherwise they charge you the CA sales tax.

Thats good then, the dealership I went through said that I had to have the car transported out of the state to avoid sales tax.
