Moving to WA soon, need help choosing tires.
I'm trying to decide if I should get a good set of All-weather tires, or if I should go with some summer tires and get a set of dedicated snow wheels later for the winter season.
As of now I'm leaning towards getting a set of Continental Extreme Contacts DWS for year round driving, if those of you with experience with the driving conditions in the area think that they will do just fine for me. Your help and opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

IMO there is no substitue for a true Snow setup if/when you have to run the G in any accumulated snow. I have some Alpins and Blizzaks on my two VQ toting vehicles and they are outstandingly capable even in the heaviest of WA snows. I haven't run all weathers myself, but it seems like a bandaid over an arterial wound to me. I would opt for a great summer setup (because when it's nice...it's AMAZING up here) and get a dedicated snow set for when the envitable powder flies.
I wish that was an option, the Jeep just took a dive on me tho, I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a lot of engine work on her before she lives again.
i pikced up yokohamas right after i bought my G. theyre all seasons but they do ok in the snow....not while its snowing, but after the snow has fallen and the streets arent a sheet of ice. the downside to this area in the winter season is that its filled with hills! dont matter what kinda tires you got if its pure ice everywhere

exactly. i think ive seen 2mm of snow this whole winter.
now if i was back in chicago, different story. I would have to give up the G for some 6 dogpower doggie sled.

I'm happy with my Michelin pilot all seasons. They were cheaper then the pilot sport summers. Not as precise as the summer pilots but the utog is way better.
Whatever tire you choose, make SURE they are highly rated for the wet. Tire rack has great reviews on tires.

eye= Bells Palsy. But yea, I too am running Yoko S.drives (and have all winter!!!) I've only stolen the wife's FX (on blizzaks) for about 3-4 days. But I do have that set of Alpins in the garage if I want to G it up in the snow...equipped in those I navigated the infamous Spokane 48" of snow in 48 hours with zero problem
Well I ended up ordering some Extreme Contact DW's and will have them installed when I go through Wyoming, home sweet home. Then I'll make my way up to Washington. It'll be nice to play in the mountains again
I shouldn't expect snow again between now and the next two weeks should I? I've been in South Carolina for the last two years, I tend to forget that it won't warm up until after April back home.
