haha you can still get her the .45....but you don't need a conceal carry permit to carry the flashlight and you can carry it on to a plane with no issues =POriginally Posted by cdubel01
alrighty then...She likes to shoot my .45 XD, but we'll see if she'll got for a flashlight... :P
So i hit up Big Darby Creek Shooting range with Doc and some other friends this sat. The range is just outside of Columbus, in West Jefferson. It's a pretty nice outdoor range. Got to shoot my Sig and Ar as well as couple of pistols and a shotgun my friend brought along. We should plan on an outing out there! Maybe some predeployment training for jeremy?
pix may be forthcoming if i can get them from my friend....

I dont mind any extra training...but it seems that this accident with my back forced my commanders to take me off the trip. (that is a whole other story)
so Keeping my skills fresh is always a must!

I'm starting small...9mm Sig seems like a good jump in point. What do you think of Glocks? I know quite a few people that have recommended those to me.Originally Posted by TeddYang
the 226 version i bought was a sig 226 navy which only comes in 9 mm. i'm not gonna argue what caliber pistol is best...for stopping power i'm gonna take out the AR anyway
AR will come...or one of those handy new SMGs that look like a purse or flashlight...i'll have to find the link somewheres...
Jeremy - Kimbers are freaking gorgeous and $$, but I don't think that's a starter gun...
lol kimbers are $$$ but sigs aren't exactly cheap either...unless you get an old used one....glocks are great relatively inexpensive option.
haha just like cars you gotta decide what you want in a pistol...ease of use? beauty? accuracy? etc....

Arnab I bought a S&W M&P compact 40 for my first weapon. I like it alot all except that it doesnt have a saftey.

sig's don't have an on/off safety either which just means make sure anyone that has access to the weapon is properly trained...or lock it up so only you have access to it....Originally Posted by BuckeyeG

i was looking at the s&w m&p...looks like a nice weapon...how does it shoot? accuracy and feel?

^True, but it's a DA/SA, so that helps a little I would think. You shouldn't have your finger in the guard anyways unless you are on target...but I suppose safety is just that, protection.
Where did you guys go to get Brian a gun? I might go to check some out when I get back to Columbus in July.

we went to gander mountain in hilliard...but apparently vance's shooter supply is the place to go (they're closed sun and mon which is why we ended up at gander). Originally Posted by stradaONE8

yeah for the 226 the DA pull is ~9-10 lb pull with the SA being ~4-5 lb pull. So in theory the DA pull is heavy enough that the weapon is safe. that being said if a round is chambered the weapon is ready to go so proper handling is important.
haha i'm not a doctor but i got to pimp doc on the 4 essential rules of firearms safety...

you'd be surprised how many first time shoooters instinctively stick their finger on the trigger when picking up a gun....

I look forward to even more pimping in another area of my life...
And I don't doubt that most people put their finger on the trigger, it what we did as kids with all our toys...habitus.
I think it's more entertaining to watch people when they have a FTF or squibb, lots of people don't know proper procedure in either case.
seems like good science to know ahead of time what you are doing when handling something that can kill you on accident...

yeah, Ted is a big time pimper, my gosh! lol. But yeah Vance's is real good, and they have a very large and decent selection. Gander just happened to have a Sig that I loved at a great price but that, I think, was just lucky.
