I think, besides marrying a Filipina, there's also an initiation process to be considered Filipino (if you weren't born as one). You have to eat 10 baluts (unsalted)...

 

I ate one for the first time when I was in the Philippines this past March. Wasn't the worst thing I have ever had, but not something I would eat again.

asian or pacific islander.

this is the debate that gets me everytime.. i'm filipino myself, speak one filipino dialect (not fluently). i consider myself PACIFIC ISLANDER..why? because the philippines is an ISLAND which is surrounded by the PACIFIC OCEAN.

we may be called asians because we're couple hours away from korea and japan.
