I dunno about all that. I'll take America any day over Vietnam. I love air conditioning and I love technological advancement.
But at least he's going to get stared and gawked at by all the school girls when they come home from school, riding their bikes on the busy streets in their white ao dai.

^ I like both, but its true, I'd picked A/C and Techs overs those. But its a great thing to go back and visit once in long whiles
I'd imagine all the gawkin' too, from school girls to "workin'" girls

Yea, I've been back twice so far, once when I was 14 and again when I was 17.
I wouldn't mind going back again another time, to check out more of the stuff that I couldn't do when I was a teenager.
But I will tell you that one of the best places I stayed out at was at my Ong Ngoai and Ba Ngoai's place out in the countryside of Hue, it wasn't too hot late at night and there was a really cool breeze. They had a balcony that we used to hang out on and drink that Hu Da Beer. No light pollution or anything to pollute the sky. First time ever in my life that I have seen that many stars in the sky. You can really see the haze our galaxy has. One of the best memories ever.

It's been 9 years since I been back to the homeland. I would love to have 1 month off to spend time over there. I love Saigon nightlife. Clubs over there open every night not just like over in the US. Even on a weeknight, the clubs are always packed with people. Down side is you spend money like crazy, cause everything in Saigon cost almost the same as in the US. For instance, Corona beer in that one club I was at cost $80,000 do^ng` which is about $4.oo in US money. It's probably more now. That price was 9 years ago when I was over there.

Well my grandparents house have AC in it so we're pretty lucky. I actually enjoy it here since it really makes you appreciate what you have and how easy we have it in the states.
You see poor and disabled people here, It's so much worse because they get no help what so ever compared to people in the states.
Basically the poor stays poor and the rich gets richer due to corruption and such.

That's where my mom is from but my dad was born in Quang Tri and then his family moved to Da Nang when he was a kid.
I speak more with a city accent then that Hue hick accent.
And it is very true about the poor just staying poor because of the corruption of the communist government.
I'll tell you that I DON'T miss sleeping with a mosquito net up.

Alot of that is how poor or well off your family is these days, im thankful i get to sleep and stay in a room with AC and not worry too much about mosquitoes and stuff.
When you actually go here and listen to the stories that your relatives tell you, its truly touching. Everyone wants to go to America in order to live a better life and thats something a lot of us take granted for.
