I had the neochrome on mine for awhile but then decided to go back to a normal simple set.

whats your exposure settings to get it to look like dusk at a time when it should be almost pitch black except for ambient light. or would this be a shutter speed thing.

id like to get into automotive photography still trying to learn my canon T2i tho. Thanks

please step up your photog game, the above example is simply "mind blowing" not "life altering" so please...bring your A game going forward...

This was actually shot by a friend I was teaching light painting to..

This technique is where you have a light source (some use a flashlight, I used a flash and a softbox) and you have the shutter set to BULB mode..

While the shutter is open, you walk around the subject "painting it with light" until you think you've properly exposed it.. The shutter being open for a long duration of time will capture the ambient light and even in pitch blackness will make it seem more like dusk (normally a min and a half exposure) or even daylight (at least a 3 min exposure)..

As I said, I hand held a speedlight inside a 24" softbox as I walked around the car I think about 4 times, hitting the test button at different spots on the car to bring it into the exposure.

It takes a LOT of practice to get it right, because you also have to balance the amount of power from the flash based on your aperture as well.. Remember light from a flash is controlled by aperture.

Aperture also controls depth of field as well..

So the easiest way to do it is determine if you want your background in focus or blurry, and then set your flash power settings to your liking.. If you walk around the car a few times and the light is too bright? Then lower your flash power, if it's too dark, then increase your flash power...

Now since I told you how to do it, I can't wait to see your results.. HEHEHEHEHEHE!!!

Hey man.. Don't think anything about the camera.. We have the same sensor in our camera and I have a 7D. There's really no benefit of using a 7D as opposed to a T2i w/ this technique.. It's really all trial and error and patience man.
