First Time w/ the New DSLR (26 Pictures)

so i finally got a chance to play around with the new camera this weekend. i've had it for a week, but i've been busy with school lately. so here are my [literally] first pics with the new camera that i have yet to figure out how to use. all i know is i've only begun to dig myself into another money pit with this hobby.

i'm fairly happy with how the pictures came out (all things taken into consideration - dslr first timer, photography noob, etc.). but i realize that i have a LOT to learn.

oh yeh, the only new things i've done are the hood dampers. there are two pics somewhere down there showing how much more the hood dampers raise the hood.

also...i've learned that shadows are not my friend.

lastly, all comments welcome - both positive and negative. actually, i'd appreciate any constructive criticism on my pictures. mostly looking for feedback/advice on my pictures. i already know i have to work with the shadows in my pics. that and a lot of the pics came out grainy (to me at least). :o

Sweet pics as usual! Is your new DSLR the Canon Rebel XT with the lens kit? Hopefully I can pick my DSLR later on this summer after a few more mods to the car.

BTW, where did you pick up the hood dampers?

Nice car and nice pictures. Also want to know what camera that is? I have a Canon 20D. It's pretty nice too. Anyone wanting the canon cameras should check out photography-on-the.net if you havent already. In the forums check out the Transportation and Motorsports forums for some nice car shots.

nice camera, why not the gialla? i think it would great on our car, and a drop, but still looks great

the hood dampers are from caskyline. as i understand it, he will be holding a GB for these soon. he made these available early to the local guys at the last socal bbq meet where he sold/installed ~20 sets.

as far as the camera goes - yes, it's the rebel xt w/ the kit lens. i hope to be "investing" in a new lens soon. however, i still have a lot to learn so i want to make sure my next lens is "right" for me. any suggestions on a lens for car photography? btw, i just joined photography-on-the.net this weekend!

i had the sp gialla replica grille, but it did not fit my tastes one bit.

i'm currently dropped on tein basics. i'm waiting on IAP to send me my spc a-arms before i drop the car any more. tires are expensive enough as it is.

thanks for all the feedback thus far guys!
