Great pics!! Cant wait till my camera comes in, just ordered it yesterday
|
Awesome Pics!! Great Job with the new camera! Love the Data Grille!
|
Sweet pics as usual! Is your new DSLR the Canon Rebel XT with the lens kit? Hopefully I can pick my DSLR later on this summer after a few more mods to the car.
BTW, where did you pick up the hood dampers? |
nice pics! love hood dampers. :eek3:
|
Nice car and nice pictures. Also want to know what camera that is? I have a Canon 20D. It's pretty nice too. Anyone wanting the canon cameras should check out photography-on-the.net if you havent already. In the forums check out the Transportation and Motorsports forums for some nice car shots.
|
nice camera, why not the gialla? i think it would great on our car, and a drop, but still looks great
|
the hood dampers are from caskyline. as i understand it, he will be holding a GB for these soon. he made these available early to the local guys at the last socal bbq meet where he sold/installed ~20 sets.
as far as the camera goes - yes, it's the rebel xt w/ the kit lens. i hope to be "investing" in a new lens soon. however, i still have a lot to learn so i want to make sure my next lens is "right" for me. any suggestions on a lens for car photography? btw, i just joined photography-on-the.net this weekend! i had the sp gialla replica grille, but it did not fit my tastes one bit. i'm currently dropped on tein basics. i'm waiting on IAP to send me my spc a-arms before i drop the car any more. tires are expensive enough as it is. thanks for all the feedback thus far guys! |
Very nice pics. Car looks good.
|
very niiiiice pics? What wheels are those?
|

looks good..but you should play with smaller aperture so you get that focused look. But they are definitely good pictures.
|
Are you using a tripod? thats always a good investment to make sure your pics are ultra sharp, especially for night pics when you get to that.

nice picz ahero...i see that you took the mt fuji symbol off
|
You will need a lens with a larger aperture to help reduce the graininess under low lighting conditions. When I pick up my DSLR later on (still debating on Canon Rebel XTi or Nikon D80), I'm planning on picking up a standard 50mm f/1.8 lens to play with. It's fairly inexpensive and it's got a large aperture to allow for more natural lighting. Hoping this will work out for car photography.

Very nice pics, Cal. I want those hood dampers. ;)

nice pics,wanna trade cams..

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/1ad2e33d.jpg you still use your stock prop. Any cutting? Are you aware if these will work on a C/F hood too? Last question... These aren't the NRG ones are they, from that GB posted a while ago that ended up being a flop? |
yes, these are the NRG ones. i'm not sure when randy will be holding the GB for these. however, people have already begun to order them from him. i have the chrome ones shown, but he has them in cf for a little more money.
in the pic, i use the stock hood prop to show the difference between the hood dampers and stock hood prop. there is VERY minimal cutting required for these to fit. using a file or dremel, you need to cut part of the battery cover. with the hood dampers installed, you can't really see the hole at all. as far as working w/ cf hoods, no. they are not meant to work with cf hoods as they have too much pressure. however, these exact same models have been put on two 350z's with stillen cf hoods and there have been no problems thus far. go to this thread for my review: https://g35driver.com/forums/media-share/154070-hood-dampers-couple-comparison-pictures.html |
Really nice shots. Good photo skills. Nice car, too.
|
very nice, congrats

AFitch, here is a DIY by caskyline himself:

do the cops bother you aHero4Eternity about the front license plate? i wish here in NY we could get away with it
|
nope. i havent had front plates since i got the car ~10 months ago and no problems thus far. they haven't even said anything about my license plate cover in the back.

Calvin.....Nice camera, and excellent photos...
Depending on your camera...if its shutter priority or aperature priority......Different applications require different techniques. As far as buying another lense, two things to think about a) how will you be using the lense (closeups, Zoom, low light, tripod etc) b) What aperature you will need? the wider the range the higher the expense to purchase, but the lense will be easier to use an more versatile for multi applications. An all around good lense would be a variable focus, say 30-100mm or maybe more of a protrait lense 40-80mm. These give you alot of versatility, and saves you the hassel of changing out lenses all the time.... Aperature is probably more important for quality photos. The larger the Aperature,(say 1.2 or 1.8) the bigger the front lense, and of course an increase in expense... The 1.2 is ideal for soft portrait types of photography, since your depth of field is limited to the focal subject. in other words, everything in front of the focused object and everthing behind will be out of focus, or soft. The higher the aperature, the opposite....more focus in front and behind, all the way to infinity.... A quality lense is the key to sharp crisp pictures, and it usually is free of aberations and other maladies related with cheaper quality lenses... Canon makes a quality product, so I don't think you could go wrong with their line of lenses.....other manufacturers will probably be cheaper, but you may sacrifice a little picture quality in the process. P.S. Good quality lense filters are a must as well, they help to calibrate UV and other reflective light that sometimes give the picture a harsh or textured look. I still have an old Contax 35 mm camera, and it uses Carl Zeiss lenses.... The lenses I purchased so many years ago have tripled in price today....So you never lose your investment in a quality set up. Good luck Dennis |
GR8TG35,
great info. thanks for your input. ;) now...i just how to figure out what all that means! :p :o but i will definately take as much of that as i can and consider it when purchasing my first lense. is there a particular lense that is better for automotive photography? i don't know how well this would work out, but is it possible to recommend a lense for me by looking at these photos? being new to the photography world, i don't know much...but i'm sure i have some sort of pattern, or "style," in my pictures that a more experienced photographer could see/pick up and use to recommend a lense for me. thanks again, cal |
Pics look great! They are much cleaner and more vibrant than on your old camera already ;)
Were you using the auto setting or playing with stuff manually? I've been looking into HDR photos a lot lately. Since you have a dslr now you should too and you can get some CRAZY pictures  Google HDR photo how to and you'll see what I mean! |
great pics.......crisp and clean shots for the most part
|
Good shots Cal. You and Grant and I should do another shoot, maybe next week or weekend, we'll just have to find a few new good locations

Very nice pics, Cal! Looks like you sorted through the 1000 settings on the camera. I know it took me quite a while to just do a simple pic. I still have no idea how to do anything with several of the features. :o
