Hood Dampers - Couple of Comparison Pictures
Here are two pictures that show how much more the hood dampers raise the hood:
Here are some other misc. pictures with the hood dampers:
Now for the review:
I noticed that since the hood is raised higher with the hood dampers, the top corners of the hood come very close to rubbing the corners of the fenders - so close that if the hood is not aligned properly, the corners of the hood will actually scrape the fender corners. I noticed some paint chipping away so i immidiately went home to adjust the hood by aligning it better. You would never noticed that the hood is unevenly aligned because it closes just fine, but the gaps on each side give a clue that it's off-center. Luckily, the fix was easy. Grab as 12mm and loosen two of the nuts...adjust accordingly as needed...tighten the nuts...and you're done. It's still very close to rubbing, though. There is maybe 2mm of clearance when the hood is shut and maybe 1mm of clearance while opening the hood. I realize this is probably going to be different for every car, however.
Overall, I love these things. I think our cars should have come with these from the factory!

hmm, not really since i'm at home alone.
i can't hold the hood up 1/3 of the way and take a macro shot at the same time.
to answer your question, yes. at least one other guy experienced some rubbing. but his was also fixed by readjusting/realigning the hood. the problem is easily fixed. it's just a matter of centering the hood when installing the dampers is all.

the only thing you have to cut is the both battery covers (if you have both) to get it to fit around the base of the shock, thats it
shouldnt take more than 20-30min

man, these things look great
as for them not compressing, you have to put some umph on them

New dampers for the fiberglass hoods are being made? DAMN IT! That means I'll have to reconsider getting a c/f hood again! AKA SPEND MORE MONEY!

Viet, do me a favor and keep those things away from me. They'll only cause me to dump even more money into my car, lol. I've been eying VIS's new c/f hood, and now with the dampers...I can get it. But no more mods!!!
BTW - You guys planning to show at T4T this year? When are you guys registering? Lemme know.
