critique my photography

here's a shot I took of my cousin's Charger...nothing spectacular about the car itself, but I'm interested in people's opinions of this shot. I have other shots, but this was the only good one of the bunch...probably b/c I started to get irritated b/c it was hot as s**t in the garage.

this is my type of shot.

i would have liked to see the entire tire, though.

i think the green sign on the right should be cropped/cloned out.

other than that, it's a very nice shot.

LOL...that's the best SN I've seen...

I did some photoshop editing, but nothing intensive. Just a quick-fix on contrast, hue and sharpness.

I agree...the whole tire would've been nice. The way the bottom is cut off is a bit distracting.

My uncle just sent me a copy of his CS2 program, so when i get that, i figure i'll start dabbling a bit in RAW format.

That picture has tons of potential John. It would have been nice to have a lens that had a few more stops down, like my 17-50 2.8 so you dont have to have the shutter open for so long (more chance of camera shake) but nonetheless, really good picture for you.

Thanks a lot...sometimes I feel that I'm improving, other times, not so much...then again, i've only been using an SLR for about 2-3 months or so. I do plan on getting a lens with a wider aperture...but i'm saving the money for other things at this time (built turbo, lol).

Luckily, i'm using the 55-200 Nikkor VR lens.

I used to shoot in jpeg because i couldnt figure out how to edit anything in RAW until about a month ago, now i shoot in RAW and its sooo much better.

the only downside would be that you need a BIG CF card because raw files are so big. I just got a 4GB SanDisk ExtremeIII CF card and i can get 400 pictures in raw, over 1000 in highest quality jpeg.

camera shake isn't a problem if you: 1) use a remote (15 bucks) 2) use time delay (takes 10 more seconds, but works fine).
