If you're worried about rust damaging any of the components, just get the new Revo version. They come with caps that cover the ends of the lugs.

i actually like the open lug look but just curious if the rust would dmg the threads on the bolts in the long run

the pic is from my iphone so it looks much rustier that they actually are. Pretty clean in person. I can simple polish to bring them back to form.

would a simple WD-40 spray every now and then prevent the threads from corrosion?
WD-40 is a lubricant, you don't want to be putting that on your lug nuts/studs. Go to your local auto store and pick up some anti-seize compound. Apply to the threads on your studs when you go to put the R40s on. It helps prevent the rust from happening in the first place. You'll have to sand/clean the rust a lot less when using it.

+1 for anti-seize.

I think I might get chewed for this but I might give it a try.

I haven't seen a setup of silver wheels with gold lugs to match the brembo brakes. Just wondering do you think the color scheme would be bad? I've been thinking about getting some gold mcgard lugs. But was thinking to be safe and go with black lugs instead.
