just make sure you have 5 full threads for the lug to engage and you'll be ok, I've got a 5mm on the rear wheels right now and I got 7 or 8 full turns before it tightened up. You should be ok with that, 10mm might be pushing it though

^ i would still try to get extended studs just to be safe.. no point in cheaping out and risking yourself
