Aggressive Wheels & Stretched Tires: Post 'Em Up! [[Some NSFW]]
#9757
Hey guys,
I know I'm gonna get flamed for posting this here but I tried posting it in the Questions about Wheels thread but didn't get any responses. Figured I'd try my luck here as it's urgent.
I lowered my 07 sedan on H&R springs yesterday and also put on my new wheels.
Specs are 20x9.5 +25 and 20x10.5 +33.
I put on 245/35/20 tires up front and tried putting on 275/30/20 out back but it was touching the fender (2nd gen sedans come with rolled fenders from the factory).
I dropped down to 255/30/20 out back but now the mid section of my exhaust is scraping whenever I go over a speedbump.
My camber is already at -3.30 out back and it's maxed out on the stock camber arms.
I'm thinking of adding a rubber finisher to the rear springs so that it raises the car out back by around 2cm (20mm) and then putting the 275's back on.
Any idea if this would solve my scraping problem? Would the 275's fit if I were to raise the car?
I need some info ASAP since it's scraping hard. Any other suggestions would be great.
Thanks
P.S. Grant (Gdup35sedan) suggested I go with 255/35/20's out back to make the tire diameter even with the front. Would that be enough to stop the scraping?

if its scraping THAT hard which is hard to believe then go back to stock or buy some camber arms to reduce the negative camber
then if it rubs on ur fender then do fender work like roll, pull, flare as needed
and after all that if it STILL scrapes EVERY speedbump (notice my emphasis) then

I checked out the diameters on a tire size calculator and the 255/30/20 is 26.1" while the 255/35/20 is 27". I'm hoping that the (almost) 1" raise I get from the tire change will be good enough to fix the problem.
If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.
Thanks

The speedbumps here in Dubai tend to be pretty nasty.
I can reduce the negative camber with the stock arms, I don't mind the -3.30* though. Plus I doubt the camber is the reason why I'm scraping, it's just the ride height and tire. (maybe I'm wrong)
I'd love to do a fender pull but I just wouldn't trust any body shop in this region to do that cause they'll just destroy the fender.
And yeah it scrapes 5/8 speedbumps that I have to go over every day so I'd say it's not an easy situation to overlook.
I can see why you're so skeptical about the scraping issue since in Cali there aren't that many (big) speedbumps (I'm from Cali so I know first hand), but over here its just not the same. Especially with all the construction going on.

Well I'm scraping the mid-section of my exhaust pretty hard.

ok so you're out of options for fender work
so basically you want to keep your car "lowered" but don't want to scrape and don't want to add more positive camber, no fender work AND now you want to add a bigger tire which will essentially raise the car so once again.. go stock or deal with it
if you want a bigger tire then you will get closer to rubbing on your fender, at which point the options are more negative camber and/or fender work
here in cali there are plenty of bad roads, construction and speedbumps.. how do people deal with being low? they avoid those streets and those problem areas but also utilize their fitment knowledge to their advantage
it's not for everyone because different people are in different situations, some can AFFORD to go low and some can't and if you HAVE to drive through those kind of conditions everyday and are scraping either deal with it(angle it) or go stock because getting bigger tires so you won't scrape anymore because you are lowered on springs defeats the purpose and is illogical
