Playing with the DSLR

Being a complete noob with DSLR's, I've been practicing over the last week or so with the new camera. Here's a couple random pics I took that I think turned out the best. Critiques are always welcome, good or bad. Especially about the photography, I'm trying to get better

1st shot is my favorite. Only critique I can offer is to line all the lugs up so that they're uniform.

Love the colors.

I love your grill and headlights. Very clean. First picture seems a lil' grainy.

good start.
I think you need to experiment with taking pictures @ different angles (i.e. rotating the camera 45 degrees prior to taking a shot).

they seem a little grainy, but not bad other wise. What was the ISO? I'm too lazy to check.

I shot them in raw and adjusted the exposure on a few that were too dark, and I did a quick level adjustment to chop off the ends of the histogram that didn't have any colors. I also chopped out a crane in the background of the sky in the last picture, but other than that its untouched.

Do you mean having them orientated the same? Yea, I realized I should have done that for a better pic. Thanks for the comments!

Yea, the first and third pics are a little grainy because they were shot without a tripod so I had to turn the iso up a bit because I can't hold the camera still enough yet. The rest were shot with a tripod so I could turn down the iso. Thanks for the comments.

I'll keep that in mind next time, not a real fan of the JDM angles though, but you are right I need to incorporate some more creative shots into the mix.

1st and 3rd were shot at iso 400, poor lighting and my shaky hands are the reason for that graininess, still practicing, and didn't want to pull out the tripod. The other threee were shot at iso100 with a tripod, but the lighting was still very poor resulting in long shutter times which contributed to the noise. Only the last one was with good lighting and a tripod so I think it turn out the sharpest. Any tips?

Its only 35% tint, but I took the shots with a polarizer filter on the lens so the windows appear darker in some of the pics.

According to Jline, yes, 4", but when I measured its slightly more than that ~4 1/2" all the way out to the edge.
