Quote: I suspect it was in Norcal where they got pulled over.
yeah i knew they got pulled over in cali. im saying if a car from texas went to cali could they get ticketed if the car isnt carb legal. since texas does not have any carb laws.

no i meant the people asking! what other possible reason could there be other than preventing damage? I know, instead of thinking about it for ten seconds/minutes, ill just bump a thread from forever ago!!!

If you think about it, it is a weird thing to do. I've driven through so many states and it doesn't fail when you stop for gas someone asks what the hell is the tape for!

One guy was like wow what happened? He thought the tape was holding the front end together after an accident.

I hate putting the tape on, it looks bad. From rock chips to insane amount of bug guys its does help. Don't let it flap in the wind though, it ends up scratching the clearcoat pretty bad.

No way of getting a custom bra made?

Custom clear bras are an option. But the visible lines suck, I've seen them on high end bright colored cars and it doesn't seem to take away much shine but it is visable up close one way or another, and they take damage as well. The pricing of the custom stuff including install is just not worth it in the end.

Road trips are generally worse on the front ends vs daily driving since you're following other cars with good tires that shoot stuff out the back.
