My mountain climbing trip....

I thought some might find this interesting so here's just "some" of the pics we took on our trip. So here's a little more detail about the trip. Gannett Peak is the highest mountain in all of Wyoming and it has the longest approach of any mountain in the United States. That means we had to hike 20 miles over CRAZY boulder fields, glaciers, 800 ft high snow fields at a 60 degree incline and tons more just to get to the mountain. It took 4 days of hiking before we were even able to see Gannett. There is for sure a lot my dad didn't tell us to expect because he didn't want to scare us into not going....that was a smart move on his part. Physically I have never pushed my body that hard in my life, nor did I think it was even possible to push it as far as we did. I can't describe the pain in words or the exhaustion that was encountered on a daily basis. Imagine running a mile at full speed and then being told you have to do it 42 more times in a row and stopping is not an option, plus you have to do it with 50+ pounds on your back. It's like mentally you think there is just no way yet somehow, you do it. Once Kim (my wife) and I made it to the summit, we just broke down. The exhaustion and the fact that we made it up together which was something most people will never get to experience, it was just so overwhelming. The last day was pretty brutal as we had to hike 13 miles that day and our legs had it. We were blistered and banged up but we did it. There's SOOOO much more I could type but I hate reading long posts so here's some pics.

walking one of the glaciers

walking the ridge (bergstrom) of the glaciers

one of the beautiful camping spots

You can't even begin to imagine how bad the mosquitoes were!!!

Here's one of the boulder fields we had to go up. It's a LOT steeper than it looks. Plus, where it looks like you can see the top, it's a false summit and goes on for as long as you already see.

The above boulder field was after we climbed up the snow path you see towards the left center side of this pic. You can't tell again from the pic, but it was as steep as any black diamond ski run.

View out our tent

This is where we camped for two days for summiting. The closest tent was ours. Watch your step first thing in the morning!

My dad heading up the rocks. This was brutal.

Myself heading up rocks

Looking over ledge at summit

Kim and I at the very top of summit

Finally, just to show I didn't forget my Nissan brothers and sisters...

So there are some of our pics. Such an amazing time. I will for sure climb a mountain again, just not this one as 20 miles is a DAMN FAR HIKE JUST TO GET THERE!!! Total miles we hikes in 7 days was 42 miles! If you'd like to see more, go to http://share.shutterfly.com/action/w...w&linkid=link4

WOW, just WOW!

That is spectacular, nice scenery and beautiful pics. A LOT OF ENDURANCE, although the payoff looks priceless.
