Pics of my DVD Player installation mod (German solution)
I just finished installing my DVD player and want to share a few Pics with you.
After homecoming from my 2 weeks holiday in florida I had all parts for the install together.
Heres what I have installed
-TVandNav2go Plug and Play unit (Thanks to Domininc for the smooth transaction and the shipping to the hotel in Miami)
-PAC NIS2
-DIETZ BOA DVD Player (reads almost every format and has a usb input in front)
Because my OEM Navigation unit doesnt work in Germany I decided to put in the DVD player instead of the OEM Navigation unit. But I had to keep the OEM unit wired because without it the Screen doesnt work any more and I also wanted to keep my Fuel Economy statistics......
So I demounted the navigation mainboard from the case and disconnected the dvd player from the mainboard beacause there was no place to keep the whole unit behind the glove box and I didnt want to lenghten the harness.
My new DVD player is smaller than the OEM unit so I decided to put the new one in the OEM case which worked really good. For a OEM look I cutted out the original plastic front and painted it black.
The whole install took my about 4hours.Big thanks to the great community that helps guys like me with awesome DIYs like the HU Removall from Real G.
Here are the pictures:
As you can see I placed the new dvd player in the navigation metal case.So I could use the original screws to install it.
You can see the OEM navigation mainboard.I isolated it and placed it below the DVD player. The mainboard works without the dvd reading unit!!
This is the original Dash of the navigation unit.I cutted it to fit for the smaller DVD player which is european DIN standard.and repainted it black.
This is a first look on my solution
It looks really clean to me and I also putted another AV Input Cable in the glove box so I can plug in a camcorder or something else in my car.
This shows me the unit now.I can simply press Info + the OK button to navigate in my statistics
My first Music Video is playing on it.Ripped from german television (as you can see on the logo on the right corner )
