Ugly G35's
This really isn't the best pic of it. But I can tell you from seeing it in person that this car looks 100x better with the tails tinted.

I like some of the coupes with tinted tails. Not so much the sedans... apart from Mike's. I really like his, but they aren't exactly stock

Sorry I don't have a simple answer
For me, it depends on many factors.
For example: What color is the car?
Also, a professional job at a body shop can look very clean, whereas if you attack your taillights with a rattlecan of NiteShades, it's almost certainly going to look ricey.

pretty sure NFSP told me to do it, i had nightshades because i was trying to black out the chrome with it(which doesnt work) so I was bored and I did the corners, and I don't like them, pretty sure I said I didn't like them before
I did mine with Niteshades, but I also sanded, buffed, and cleared them so they weren't that nasty matte finish that niteshades tends to make.
Also, I'll give you credit, there is a big difference between marker lights and taillights. The marker lights are much smaller and easier to get an even finish.
I'm not saying it's impossible to use niteshades and get a good finish, just like it's not impossible to rattle-can a set of wheels and have it come out nice... it's just that most people who do it, don't do a good job, especially on taillights. Whereas every time I've seen it done professionally, it comes out much better.
I have no doubt a shop would have done a better job on my marker lights, but I wasn't going to pay to have them do it.
If you don't like yours, why don't you just sand it off and re-finish the lens with a 3M kit?
As you know first hand, the amber ones still show through a little in the bright sun. And if you tint them enough so they don't, then they're too dark.

See how the amber shows through on the flat part right next to the wheel well? (Yes, mine does the same thing)
I've seen both in person, and smoked clear looks significantly better.

idk i dont think it looks good
yeah I was just thinking i would sand it off with the 3m kit just to prove a point, but then i remember i already moved that stuff over to my new house..fail
also a tail light is a much bigger area to be all black, its not really the same
