I don't see why transitions effect whether or not a car is currently ugly

if some ugly chick is about to get plastic surgery to not be ugly that doesn't make her any less ugly before the surgery

I think the thing that separates ugly project cars from project cars is how long the project takes. If you are doing the project yourself, much like Mr. Goblin, I say leave the topic alone. The guy is putting all the work in himself, doing a mighty fine job of it at that.
As for the people who spread the 'project' out over more than say, a year, when they are just taking the car different places to get everything done, and just doing it paycheck to paycheck, why not just wait and do everything at once?
