lighter weight. gussets are the whole plates used to strengthen and stiffen the entire car by connecting it with the cage. basically its like 1 huge strut bar inside the car. cutting out the holes means less material and weight while the dimpled look keeps them just as strong because of the angles. hope that makes sense.
