Vented fenders was another option... but routing ducting from engine bay to fender exterior would be a pita.

Like Shane said - "too much function"
haha omg so it is functional, my bad i keep seeing soo many non functional aftermarket hoods

like shane said, too much function! haven't seen so much before

for the coupe maybe - but not sedan... the only after market hood for sedan is the Stillen SC hood... no sedan hood has any venting or cowl - the one in the pic is an OEM hood modified.

Off as in weird or not aligned?

Actually, I think the lines are a little too hard – when it was first molded in and primered I liked the way it looked – but after paint I saw the hard lines and first thing I told shop owner was "how much to soften the edges"

Also the upward slope looks a little off – they followed the shape of the hood and it does flow with the hood lines if you look at it – but for first glance, I agree it’s a little different.

I guess that’s the chance you take when you do something that hasn’t been done before…. Its easy to wait for others to trial and error it – or wait for an after market – but I like having a car that looks a bit different from the others, but still kinda subtle. The hood is a little more than subtle though (I call it my elephant trunk)… it’s growing on me though.

All in all Auto Explosion did a great job creating everything that I requested... there are a lot of subtle changes that not everyone would realize - which is the way i like it

Sorry for taking thread off topic... this is all something that I should be discussing in the thread about the body work

More clean G pics *Edit - not freshly washed clean... clean as in b!tchen

I actually really like that hood......it looks mean. a touch of muscle in it.

if i had to change it, i'd just soften the edge toward the end of it....the edge slightly gets bigger and toward the end turned into a cliff. I think it looks really aggressive only became too much at the end.

props for being the 1st, but u took styling from a muscle car to an import?

dnt get me wrong your car is fresh, i just dont think the hood was a good choice

bet if infiniti did the tailights like yours they would have some more g sedans that year

I didn’t really take muscle car to import as much as find a way to vent heat from headers in a relatively subtle way… there weren’t too many options – a vented hood would look way too “boy racer” for me… so the idea was to follow the line of the OEM hood (some don’t realize that the 03-04 hood already has slightly raised center and this cowl just follows the OEM lines)… so really its just an accentuated OEM hood – albeit overly stated with the sharp lines.

Thanks for your kudos on the taillights – that’s one (of several) areas that I think Infiniti muffed on the pre-07 sedans… The “cat-ear” delete was my concept even before the 07 sedan came out… but once the car got in to body shop I seriously considered having the 07-08 taillight conversion (major kudos in advance to whoever does that!). Infiniti got it right with the second gen sedans.

I have an entire thread about getting the LEDs to blink in place of the OEM turn signal – what a PITA that was! But I’m totally shocked that no one has done it now that the trial and error is complete…

Anyway – thanks for the evaluation… if nothing else, my car is a conversation piece ~

curious to those that have molded pieces, god forbid someone ever rear end you but if it did happen do you take off the rear bumper+quarter panels in one piece?
