Nice pics. What is that sticking out of your lower front bumper grilles?

It's an Escort ZR3 Laser Shifter or laser jammer. It works with my Escort 8500 X50 radar detector. There's two sensors in the front grills and then one above the license plate, which you can't see in the pics.

Why would you advertise that to the police? Are laser jammers legal in your state?

+1 . . . Yes, the background choice is very interesting and affords a great contrast to your awesome looking G. Love them Volks, by the way.

I believe they are legal all over the United States. Radar jammers are illegal because those frequencies are regulated by the FCC. Laser frequencies, on the other hand, are not regulated and are therefore legal. It's also manufactured by a reputable company. I've had them on since August 2005 and I've been hit with laser approximately 20 times and never been pulled over. I'm sure if they were illegal, I would have been pulled over one of those times.

It's a great investment and I'd recommend it to anyone.

That's interesting. I'd like to add this to my X50 but was afraid it was illegal.

I just noticed you're from CA and they have all sorts of crazy laws there , so I'd definitely check into it first to verify the things I said. But like I said before, I've had no problems where I live.

Just found this in the CA MVC:
Jamming: Electronic Speed-Measuring Devices
28150. (a) No vehicle shall be equipped with any device
that is designed for, or is capable of, jamming, scrambling,
neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering with radar,
laser, or any other electronic device used by a law
enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects.
