Blurring out of license plate in picts?
Just wondering why many people do this when posting photos of their rides on the forum? How is it any different from people seeing your car on the road?
I'm lost on this one...... Thanks.

There was a thread started a few days ago about this. Long story short, a kid had a 944 with tons of mods on it and posted in a Porsche forum. Someone found out where he lived, broke into the garage and stole the car, leaving two Ferraris untouched. The went there looking for his car, knowing what he had in it and where to find it.
It's personal information that someone might use to track you down. I don't know how easy that would be but you never know. I also think custom plates are a bad idea because it's easy to memorize. I'm not doing getaways or anything but in case I do... lol

I guess that makes sense...it reduces your odds...but doesn't completely eliminate them (since you DO need to drive down the highway in the car w/ the plates showing)...I guess if a car is a "sleeper", then it's not an issue, but if there's a lot of exterior mods & it's pimped out, I don't think it makes much a difference. Thanks for the info!

So by showing my license plate online, someone can find out my address and steal my car?
I don't get it
. Can't they do the same thing from seeing my car on the streets? And how do you get this information, just from your license plate?
Either way, here goes nothin

Noone is arging it can happen, because it *has* happened.
Look, the point is I can sit on my computer, check out your mods, read all your posts, say to myself "I can sell all those mods, blah blah" look up your info and steal the parts and/or car.
And how exactly would some person you drive by happen to know what you have in the car? It's just easier online...way less effort.
That's all we are talking about here, just making it harder for some dirtbag to get your info. I assume you don't paste a note on your ATM card with your PIN, right?
on another forum i use, www.houston-imports.com , when people post pictures of their civics and stuff without blurred plates, a couple days later there is a thread saying, "Oh maing! my car got jacked!" and they wonder why.
just do the smart thing and blur plates just to slow the thiefs down and not make it so easy
