5/16" makes a higher average and more TQ.
The 1/2" spacer makes a higher peak HP at high RPM.

So it depends on what you want more.
Average power? TQ? Peak?

Tony
what does he mean "higher average"?

im still trying to debate whats better for a 5at?!?!? but then again i dont want to lose the stock engine cover so the only way to go is a 5/16

if you want the engine cover then stick with the 5/16". as with the 1/2", you'll gain a few more hp over the 5/16" but only at high revs. with the 5/16" you will make less peak hp but will have more power at midrange than than the 1/2".

See the dyno section of our website. The analysis shows everything.

I am curious...

I keep hearing that the 1/2" spacer will dramatically change the sound of the motor but have heard nothing about the 5/16 one doing so.

Can anyone give me some insight to this?

i havent noticed that big of a difference in sound. i had the z-tube and the k&n filter installed at the same time as the 1/2" and mrev2 and i think most of my sound comes from the z-tube during wot. there might be a little contribution in sound from the 1/2"...

Its not dramatic, but it does change the sound.
A little deeper and louder.

I had Stillen CAI and exhaust for quite a while prior to installing 1/2" spacer... The spacer definitely made the motor more throaty - gave it a grunt... matched the oomph nicely!

So to answer a couple of posts up... yes the spacer changes the engine sound and for me it wasn’t mistaken for the intake (that sound was already there).

Cover will fit with 1/2" spacer - but why have it?

Figure I would bring this thread back...
I recently purchased the basic 5/16 spacer, didn't really feel any bump and I was wondering if adding the iso thermal would help in maybe feeling more of a bump??

How it is felt is purely subjective but either way your engine is making more power with it.

Cant wait to get the plenum spacer, such a good mod!
Is there a big difference between the size of the spacers? I have heard the 1/2 MD spacers dnt offer much more(if any at all) gains over their 5/16 spacer.

Just out of curiosity, does the plenum spacer affect smog inspection?
