Ya guys I will get around to the sound clip ASAP. I have been extremely busy lately and have not had the time, but I should get to it this weekend. I don't plan to upgrade the y-pipe or the exhaust. I love the sound of the stock exhaust and replacing the y-pipe with the stock exhaust could actually rob you of power (I know this is an endless debate). I cant justify spending arouns $1,000 for a few HP that wont really be noticable when I already love the sound of the exhaust as is.

Good, i love the sound of the stock exhaust as well. Exhaust systems are worthless if you ask me.

I'm really thinking of leaving the Y-pipe off, then perhaps installing it later, just to get more feedback on this issue. The only thing that sucks is that I don't have access to a dyno so the only noticeable thing would be if there was a significant loss in TQ with the Y-pipe added to this combo.

I just tried to launch the car for the first time since I installed any performance mods (started in the middle of winter and havn't had a chance to launch). And MY GOD, im going to have to learn how to launch my car all over again. I was seriously just sitting on the line for a good 2 seconds with nothing but screeching tires (this was at like 1/2 throttle or so), I finally let off the throttle and the car started to catch. Then I wasted my friend in his accord v6 haha. But wow, I really put it to the test and noticed a HUGE difference. I want to get the car on a dyno asap and maybe run a couple 1/4 miles.

Hey guys one quick question...I am planning to do everything you did to your car(headers/hfc/mrev...and keep the stock mufflers, but i would really like to get different tips or mufflers to have the HKS tips, or fujitsuboso(however you spell it) Looks. but still keep the same stock exhaust. HAve you ever seen or heard of anything done in that manner?

I think you mean you want the chrome muffler. I have heard of guys getting their muffler chromed. I guess you could take off the mufler, have it chromed, then put it back on. Search it?

Frickster...

You're just talking about exhaust tips right? I've seen people keep the stock exhaust and just put some different tips on. Should be about 50 bucks.

Thumbs up

Awesome review. In a week or so I'm going with by brother (rsx-s) to get some baseline dyno #'s. then it's MREV ISO therm plus time (in a box right now)
You mod list is the exact path i want to take. Thanks for taking the time to write it up.

I see new tires in your future

As do I! I put my summer tires back on a few days before I got the headers/cats/sways installed. I have driven about 800 miles on them since then, and I can already visibly see the increased wear. I doubt they will last me the summer the way I am driving now. I can't stress how much I love this setup. It has a good amount of torque low end, which makes for great regular day driving. It also now pulls SOOO much harder. I would race my friends WRX before and be just slightly ahead of him. I havent had a chance to race him again, but I doubt he even stands a chance now.

My next decision is what type of tires and what size. I am going to go with either the KDW2s, PS2s, or the new Toyo TR1 tires. I am either going stock sizes or going for a 245/35/19, 275/35/19 setup. I know a member on here put this setup with PS2s on his OEM 19s and has had a great experience.

You really have me thinking twice about installing the NISMO Y-pipe I already have.

Did you already notice a loss of torque down low from this combo?

I would be modifying the OEM rear-section for the Y-pipe, so if I do install it's not going to be as easy as just pulling it off if there's a big loss in torque over what may occur with your combo.

Well I kept the stock y-pipe. I have not noticed any loss in low end torque, it has increased if anything.

That's comforting. That tells me that the gains from the MREV Plus aren't offset by a big loss in torque from the header/cats with OEM rear-section. Now I feel comfortable enough that adding the Y-pipe won't turn this combo into a big loss of torque.
