ummmmm, the mountain runs should always be done at high speed, and at night (because it is safer with less congestion). Going during the day time is way way more dangerous.Originally Posted by importroller

OH, and we were doing uphil and downhill runs. The time I wrecked we did five or six runs total that night, and saw a total of 4 cars that entire night.

true, there will be more traffic in the day time, but at least you can see whats coming and MAYBE avoid it. at night time, you will only see what your lights illuminate. and there are way too many blind spots. and as many times as you did go up and down, you did crash...That to me = fail

nope. you have a better chance at seeing oncoming traffic at night because you can see the lights coming at you. Yeah, I did crash, but I've done so many mountain runs without crashing that my time was well over due. I was big into drifting during undergrad and I was the one person out of everyone I knew that never hit anything in the mountains.Originally Posted by importroller

Further, you won't crash if you are driving slowly. We weren't exactly going at a slow pace. When me and Eric from riverside infiniti were running we were a good 10 minutes ahead of everyone (we started off at the same time), and as stated, my car wasn't ready for that kind of beating. Also I crashed on the downhill, and as we all know the G35 is heavy. Plus, the main reason, even with the crappy tires, no brakes, and half assed suspension setup, the reason why I crashed was that the VDC kicked in, cut my gas, which increased my understeer (sending me into the guard rail). I also crashed on my first time downhill, so keeping that high of a pace on my first run wasn't very smart.
p.s. that was my first time with the vortech in the canyons, and my previous runs I was keeping up with lotus elise(s), the exige (he was the lead car and I was pushing him), and a fully built twin turbo z33.
Frankly you guys did your canyon run all wrong, ergo I didn't want to go. This wasn't a canyon run, this was a cruise = fail

i say we do this the right way and take em to a race track or at least an autox and have some real racing in a safe way.
