New Years in San Diego

Hey everyone. My wife and I will be in San Diego for the first time over New Years. Anyone have any suggestions for where to go to celebrate? Any suggestions would be great as we are both unfamiliar with the area. We will be staying next to the gas lamp district. Thanks.
