Spring Install & Price....?

Now I don't feel too bad....went by a friends shop yesterday (I've known for
at least 20 years) and asked him about spring install. He goes to his P/C and
asks me several questions and then quotes me $400 with alignment. We all
know doing the job and being carefull with the right tools shouldn't take more
than 1 to 1.5 hours. The alignment is cool, can't install springs without having that done. Frigin prices are just nuts! Like the bodyshop in my area
wanted $1200 to paint my sides....it ended up costing me $350 installed!
I must have "Stupid" written on my forehead....

It took STATUS less than one hour for the spring install for me... they charged me $350 (including the Eibach Pro-kit spring).

Wow, that's pretty insane. On my previous car, I did the springs myself with a friend and WITHOUT a spring compressor (helped to have a slightly overweight friend put some weight on the top of the strut assembly ), and we did the job in less than an hour. It's a very quick/simple process if you know what you're doing.

He was working off the "book" standard rates (hours) to R&R the suspension. I was quoted $400 from three different places for my sedan. I did it myself in 4 hrs. ...and I'm slow.

from what it seems, anything over $200 seems like you're about to get a load in your face
