I tried really hard to get some decent befores, but I just couldn't get them to show. When I thought I did, the flash would over expose the paint and not show anything.

I put a lot more work getting this car clean than I did polishing. It was filthy. Pictures don't do it justice. I began the wash trying to get the wheels cleaned, but had no luck. I ran out of wheel acid and the rims laughed at my fooled attempts to use anything else. So I quit after trying to clean the first wheel and just washed the car, knowing I would have to remove the wheels later to clean them correctly and put in some elbow grease. This led to more issues as the inside of the wheels had baked on tire mounting lube/adhesive.

So after the car was cleaned I pulled out a new claybar (BTW, normally I pick this up for 9.99 but this time it was being sold for 11.99 at every location. Our economy sucks huh.). After claying the whole vehicle I had to chuck the claybar. It was completely worthless at that point as I couldn't roll it up to get a clean side.

Polishing was quick and painless. I don't know why I decided to finish with the Flex Orbital since I could have simply done it faster with the Makita rotory, but I bought the machine again and figured I try to use it. I don't see myself using it too much but still nice knowing its there and capable.

I sealed the paint with FK1 #2180. Still had it from the big FK1 craze 2 years ago and figured I'd use it. Looks nice! Very slick.

Meguiar's new fast cutting compound M-105 is definately a winner like everyone is raving. I got this sample from member 328i. I didn't study how to use it, and all I knew about it was that it cuts deep and fast. In the video below I was trying to cut away at some heavy etching. The product did just that, but did it in record time along with little to no hologramming on the silver paint. I had tried it with the FLEX Orbital the week before and did not get good results as the Orbital just couldn't break it down enough for me and make removal easy. It caked and gummed up, making it obvious this product was made specifically for rotory use. This week I used it with my rotory and was a lot happier. I was expecting it to break down fast but not this fast. I expect this to cut down my polishing time significantly, as I can compound an area in 45 seconds instead of 3-4 minutes. 2-3 passes is all it takes.

 

Damn dude, car looks much better, I'm guessing they're looking to trade it in since they've not cared to clean it for years lol!
