Unhappy OMG what have I done????

Short Version: I traded in the G for a new Turbo Passat

Long Version: I made the mistake of thinking outloud one day in front of the wife about what a pain in my a$$ it is to put my 7 month old son into a car seat in the back seat. She thinks its a great idea and has been thinking that I needed to get an SUV, or at least a four door. Logically, I figure I will get an FX or a G sedan.....however, she has been secretly talking to the finance manager at VW which is an aquaitance of our through a very good friend. The wife drives an '07 Jeep Commander(which she was already tired of). HOW??? I bought the damn thing for her this past Christmas!!! Anyways, on with the debacle...She has this thing for the new Passat, but when she mentioned VW to me, Im still under the impression that the IM the one getting a new ride. I thought about it and told myself that I wouldnt mind driving around in a Toureg....HA!! Little did I know that when I got married I must have not read the paragraph stating that I no longer owned my cojones. So once we get there she tells me that she loves the Passat and I was like, Are you crazy?? The G sedan is ssssssssssooooooooo much better!!! Long story short, our hookup at VW had worked out this UN-GODLY deal for us on the Passat, taking in my upside down G....Once I played with the numbers and he showed me the lengths to which he had gone to swallow MY car it became apparent to me that had I gone to Inifiniti, my payments on ANY new car would have been outrageous. Well, it all boiled down to two things... 1) I needed a roomier car for the baby. 2)This was a deal I basically couldnt pass up. We worked some numbers on the Toureg but the sticker alone was $11k more than the Passat, so I couldnt go that route because of the trade-in. So, now I get the Jeep and she got the Passat.....I must have lost my mind or some$hit, but I had to think about my son most importantly...

I wont be leaving this site though...I have met some really cool people on here and whenever I need some entertainment and I have exhausted all internet ****, I know I can always come here. So, in closing, I no longer drive one of the greatest vehicles made today, but as long as I dont get banned for deserting Infiniti, I will still be lurking around here.

You are right. Once you have a kid all priorities must accommodate him. These kids are saying thank you for helping me not to get married but the marriage wasnt the issue it was a roomier car for your son. Im sure you got to enjoy the G plenty enuff but im sure you feel more responsible to go the right way forward with your family.

Enjoy the Passat...its not exactlya horrible car...i like them and its turbo so maybe you can so some mods and bump up the boost

Sounds a little shady from the little woman, but a good deal on a car more suited to having a family -- with better fuel efficiency -- is not all bad.

sucks to have lost your G but it was for a good cause. You could always wait for a convertible G to get back into one (if they ever come out), then putting ur son into the car will be a breeze

Yea man, the smaller SUV is the Tiguan...and its actually very nice. COmes with the 2.0T motor. I was looking into that as well, but they JUST came out and I didnt want to the guinnea pig(historically 1st model year cars have tons of bugs to worked out)
