Legality Issue
I'm trying to search if it's legal to drive without a hood in Florida. I'm asking because I'm going to pick up a new hood and I will have no way to transport the OEM hood home. I've tried to google this issue on my iphone but have come up empty handed. If someone can find a answer to my question I'd greatly appreciate it.
Couldn't find anything either searching the statutes. Only information on hoods is not to allow anyone to ride on it. You should be good, the probability of you running into an officer is low as it is, maybe wait til night.

The hood is 30 miles from where I live, so it would be kinda a trek with no hood hoping not to run into the long arm of the law. I've seen multiple classic cars with no hoods but knowing my luck I'll end up getting a fix it ticket or possibly something worse.

I'm thinking I may just have to risk it.. Maybe wear my paramedic uniform up incase I do get pulled over.

You probably could get a ticket but for the cops is not worth it to pull you over to give you a fix it ticket. The paperwork following the fix it ticket is way too much. You should be alright.
What kind of hood are you getting?

It is illegal and they can give you a ticket for it. I know this b/c when I was trying to sell my cf hood a while back, the buyer was coming down to pick it up with no hood on his car and he got pulled over.
I wouldn't do it. I would just try to find someone with a pick up truck.
