Not sure if you get the caliper brackets when you buy remans. And oem style doesn't aways = om\em quality. Same with the pads. Some cheap brand pads might cost $45 but I don't know if it will perform nearly as well.
And you'll still only have the fronts.
And you'll still only have the fronts.
Let me try that again...I looked at 2005 G35 which in some databases still have the single piston fronts. Looking at 2006 hardware reveals...
2 Front dual piston calipers w/ installation hardware $224
2 Front Rotors $130
1 Set Front Pads $55
2 Rear single piston calipers w/ installation hardware $168
2 Rear rotors $90
1 set rear pads $48
Total....$715
Does this sound like it'd work? Would I also need a caliper bracket as well? Did you swap those out also?
Thanks for the help.
P.S. Does the spare tire fit over these brakes?

Your best bet is to buy an used (but good condition) set from a 05+ non AWD G/Z. Or 06+ anything. (as per the 1st post in this thread). What I paid, what I got and pictures of what I got are mentioned in the posts I made in this thread.

Jeff....I get that, but is buying the individual components any different? Which what you bought used, what did you get? Rotors, calipers, caliper bracket, pads, lines, etc....
In other words what is the materials list needed to do the job?

You can buy one by one if you want to end up paying more. Exactly what I bought is exactly what's needed (other than the trimming mentioned). I also flushed the brake lines.
I'll absolutely investigate buying used components, but what I wanted to know is that if I cannot find a used kit, what are the parts needed to purchase?
'06 Rotors - Yes
'06 Dual Piston Calipers - Yes
'06 - Caliper brackets - ?
SS Lines - Maybe
'06 OEM Pads - Yes
'06 Pad holder (not the shim, but the spring part that pinches the pads) - Yes?
Anything else?
Can you confirm/deny these?

Other than the rotors, SS lines I used and the fluid, this picture shows all that's needed and what was included when I purchased. Which is a picture of what I installed (that needed no other parts). Caliper, pads, shims, brackets. All shown.

Well in my case, the pads were toast and the rotors were probably due for replacement. The cost of these vs doing the upgrade was pretty favorable.
I'm happy with the upgrade and the performance has been on par with my earlier comments. As you must know, in order to get decent performance with the early brakes is to run the oem pads which dust like holy hell. The upgrade barely dusts at all. Which is a big plus with our oem 19s.
The only downside is the slightly heavier weight of the 12.6" rotor vs the 11.5" rotor. But it's a few lbs that I put up with. Racing brake has replacement rotors that weigh the same as the 11.5" rotors. ie.. about 17lbs approx for the 12.6"
I also bought the SS lines while I was at it.

Same question. Any balance or proportioning issues? Can't imagine there would be, but I also doubt many people have done just the fronts. If so, post up!
I just wonder if it's worth doing the rears at all, since the size difference is small, same 1-piston setup, and most of the braking takes place up front.
