debadging correctly? heat & floss method still good?

on previous cars i've debadged by using a heat gun/ hair dryer on the badge on the car then when it was warm enough i used floss to pull back and forth behind the badge until it came off. i never had paint damage and only alittle sticky residue left to remove. is this still a good way to debadge or is there a better way?

Nope. That is the best way to go. WD40 will help loosen up that left over crap as well.

correct, if u dont got wd40 you can use goo fone.. which i thought worked very well. completely up to you at that point.

the one thing that went wrong with my debage was when i reached the "G 35" clear coat came off with it.. or it was already damaged.

There have been no major advancements in debadging.

Researchers are still looking into new methods.

They can do it. They have the technology.

No really I was wondering because my G is IP and I was worried about the clear coat. I wanna clay bar it and find some polish that really makes it pop. Want a protectant too.

Even easier than trying to get the extra goo off with wd-40 or goo gone is using an eraser wheel. Costs like $15 I believe and takes it off in about 20 seconds depending on the amount.

today i picked up a good clay bar from a guy i used to do overspray removal with. it'll be next week before i can get out and clay the car really well. i really want the pearl to stand out.

the whole purpose for this thread is because i ordered a 350GT badge from another user to replace the G35 emblem. not quite sure if i want to debadge the rest of the car or not. i'll check out some pics and see what i want to do. i'm thinking of taking off the infiniti emblem and "INFINITI" and putting on a Nissan badge. for the front i wanna just remove the badge and fill in the grille and plastidip or paint it black. also wanna do the wheels in plastidip but clear coat them to make them shine. if i change the rear badge to Nissan i'd want to change the center caps to nissan and leave the nissan symbol chrome. anyone know where i can get some nissan centercaps that fit the infiniti wheels?

Goo Gone is always best, wn't harm your paint!

I started a debage on my 2005 IP sedan, began with rear emblem and found that there are 2 ****** holes in the trunk lid WTF!!!!!

I've debaged plenty of other nissans, has there been holes under the emblems before!

What do you guys do about this??

Be careful with the eraser wheel as it can burn your paint if not used properly...

I used it on my trunk when I took the Infiniti letters off and it worked just fine... When I used it on the G35, it ate up the bumper...

I've done all my debadging with braided fishing line. Goo Gone or sticker removal spray work well for the remaining adhesive.

Yup 03-06 sedans have holes. The people that remove it get the holes filled in and the whole trunk repainted

today i got out and washed and clayed the car. it started getting dark and cold so i moved into the garage to finish claying. actually i didn't finish but, i figured since i had do the majority i'd finish what i had started on the car. the front bumper is pretty much the only thing i didn't get to clay. i wanted to wash the car again after claying but, couldn't so i wiped it down really well and used some meguiars cleaner wax on it. i hope it's sunny tomorrow. i can't wait to see the results. looks great under the garage lights tho.
