cracked my SES

those following the rally in Austin and Houston threads in the south region forum have heard of the damage to my exhaust. went in today, put the car on my lift and removed the exhaust. originally planned to take it to a friend's shop and have it TIG welded to repair the damage. upon inspection, found the damage is worse than I thought. so I removed the complete system and installed the stock exhaust. after driving with the Injen and Helix for a year, I can't hear the car now. here's some pics of the damaged mid-pipe

cracked front reinforcement brace

cracked brace at the rear end of the resonator

crack around where the pipe is attached to the resonator

crack moving up the pipe

crack around the pipe leading into the resonator

update for anyone interested. as of right now. I might be able to completley repair the damage but the connection of pipes and resonators is damaged so I don't know. also I'm considering just repairing it and using that as an interum system until I get the funds to buy an HKS system or the Fujisubo w/ Y-pipe. I'm leaning towards the Fujitsubo right now. gonna meet up with spill sometime this weekend and see how his HKS sounds. they're about teh same price and both are JDM products so it's a tough choice.

dont know how loud that sounds, but stock ones are loud enough for me. I might get brembos as I've heard they are very close to stock ones.

sounds like ****. it causes a huge exhaust leak with the cracks. before it cracked though, ohhh damn. the Injen and my Helix test pipes. yea it's a bit loud at wide open throttle. but damn it sounds great.

bottomed out. homieg35, think that's leftover form when I hit a dog doing 85 on the highway. long story short, he's in doggy heaven now and I spent a couple hours cleaning doggy out of the underside of my car and replacing several panels that were smashed.

I've heard alot of rumors of bad things with the SES exhaust but this story is amazing!!! Just curious if you had a different exhaust, would the same thing happen again if you hit a dog @ 80mph?

the dog didn't crack the exhaust. think you missed something. the dog damaged my front bumper and the panels under the car. lowering the car then driving over a speed bump too fast damaged the exhaust. the scrape marks on the underside of the exhaust are proof of that

After weeks of putting up with a constant hissing coming from under the drivers side of my car, I decided to finally check for a leak. Sure enough, me and my friend jacked up the car and I found the the pipe that leads into the resonator was leaking air. From the looks of it, I may have bottomed out causing it to leak, but I can't remember a time when I did. I am not sure if this is a known problem with the Injen SES, but for two people to have a similiar issue, I would think that the odds are slim.

I tried to use some JB Weld stuff to patch it up, but that didn't help at all considering all that air pressure coming out, it just opened the leak back up again. I am going to attempt to have Midas weld that part together, and it should fix it forever (hopefully). Hoping that I can "Trust the Midas Touch..."
