2007 g35x o2 sensor replacement
Hey folks. First post here. I apologize if this question is archived somewhere . I couldn't find it. I need to replace the upstream bank 2 sensor 1 o2 sensor in my 07 g35x. Auto parts stores have told me I need the 4 wire plug. So I ordered that one and my mechanic tried to install but says it's the wrong one .
my searches have proved fruitless. I'm getting answers that I need the 4 wire, the 5 wire , the 6 wire..
can someone please help me. Why is it so hard to know which o2 sensor I need ?
thanks guys

I appreciate your reply. I'm still lost though. When I go to RockAuto there's a few options for the Upstream sensor that fits my car and some of them are 5 wire and some of them are four wire so I still have no way of knowing which one is for my car other than the four wire that I gave to my mechanic he says didn't work

That's the thing though. I supplied my mechanic with a 4 wire plug I had bought on Amazon that was supposed to be the right one. mechanic told me he couldn't install it because it was the wrong plug.
I'm just confused about how sites like rock auto or even auto zones etc can list both the 5 wire and 4 wire plugs as being the correct part..?
Did Infiniti use 2 different sensors for the same car model ?

07 Sedan is a 4 wire, 07 Coupe is a 5 wire. Again, 07 was an oddball year due to Sedans being the new V36 chassis and coupes being a V35 holdover.
Here's the connectors to help you figure it out.
07 Sedan VQ35HR Upstream
07 Sedan VQ35HR Downstream
Notice how both upstream and downstream are 4 wires, but alignment tabs are slightly different.
Now here's the 07 Coupe VQ35DE Upstream "5 wire" connector:
If you're still confused, have your mechanic order the parts and have him deal with finding the right connector, lol.

First, thank you for taking your time to help me. I now understand that the reason for 2 parts is the coupe and sedan are different. Part of where Im having trouble is that I supplied my friend/mechanic with the 4 wire, upstream sensor that you see imaged below. It looks exactly like the ntk one at ROCKAUTO. Mechanic said that plug was the wrong one. So thats my confusion. Here is the link to amazon item: . I'll probably just have to wait til he gets back in town monday and see what he says about all this. Thank you very much for helping me.

I dunno then. There's only a few options here:
1) You have the correct sensor already; the mechanic had a bonehead moment and tried to replace a downstream sensor by mistake and said it's the wrong plug.
2) Your car was made late and actually uses the newer sensor from the 08 G35.
Best option is to try to get a picture of the connector, unplugged, and compare to ones you see online. It will be up in the engine bay, probably directly under the intakes. If it's down by the trans, those are the downstream sensors.
