GB: OEM Alarm Add ons: Shock Sensor / Tilt Sensor, etc...

Hey guys. We are in the process of ordering a bunch of DEI shock sensor units for some folks in the Florida G35 Club and we wanted to see how many people are interested in it or other OEM alarm add-ons for the Z/G.

Explanation of some of the OEM alarm add-ons:

A shock sensor detects hard thumps

A titlt sensor detects you car being jacked up or towed

A resonance sensor is a sensor that can be mounted anywhere and picks up high pitched sound frequencies associated with metal...like slim jims or what not. Its a tiny sensor that will pick up the sound (wont pick up simple hand to glass or hand to metal sounds but rather the metal on metal or metal on glass frequencies). It does not cover the whole car. You can install one on the headlights and if the theif starts to mess with the headlights..it'll go off. You can stick it inside the door panel and it will pick up slim jims, the door handle being lifted and trying to be opened. You can stick it in the trunk if you have an expensive system, etc... But again...a single unit wont protect the whole car...just specific areas.

A proximity sensor is a sensor to detect movement inside the vehicle.

Here is a great DIY write-up by Florida G35 Clubs own Redwillow which explains the shock sensor:

We can get any and all forms of security equiptment for you guys. It just started as a shock sensor deal, but can get whatever you need to protect your car.

For pricing on the basics, check out the thread in the vendors section:

https://g35driver.com/forums/vendor-specials/82147-gb-oem-alram-add-ons-shock-sensor-titl-sensor-etc.html

I'll be happy to answer questions you guys may have...

Yeah, as a former DEI product development guy, I have a question.

How do YOU get the digital tilt sensors to work? Because I've given up making them work reliably.

By the way, all, I am a huge proponent of the DEI magnetic impact sensor. Can't recommend it enough, as long as you mount it properly (velcro or a wire tie to a harness) and set it off of thumping the door handle with your fist.

Duderino....we have only installed the shock sensor as that was the original intent of the GB. However, some people have expressed interest in the tilt sensor from DEI so we offer this up as well, but we have yet to install this ourselves as nobody from Florida has wanted one.

I'll call our DEI tech/installer tomorrow and see what I can come up with...

Yeah, it is. 504OEM, right?

DIdn't mean to rain on your parade, man - just wondering. I love that impact sensor, but I am mystified on that tilt sensor.

I have to tell you, the TSX guys have been reading that 504OEM post on the G35 because they liked that idea so much

Dude....no problem man. We are all in the same boat as G35 enthusists. Both me (g8tor20) and Daniel (SFLG35) both wanted the sensor on our Gs so we started this GB. Some people wanted more protection and we just figured we offer it up.

Actually...we have the 504D which has the same wires but the extra fuse. We installed it on my car last week to make sure it works. Worked perfectly.

out of curiousity....which thread are those guys looking at?

Our DEI installer tech said the only thing he can think of is that the sensor should be tied to the hood pin switch and not another trigger.

G8tor20 = Boosted Concepts
SFLG35 = Boosted Concepts

I keep forgetting which account i'm logged in as and so thats why my last post was g8tor20. Sorry for any confusion.

Why the hood pin and not any other triggers, just out of curiosity. I've never worked with the tilt switch, and I'm wondering how it is different then other DEI sensors.
