lol 6MT FTW
6MT is all about fun! I can also certainly outshift an AT
Anyway, if that's how the manumatic shifting works for BMW's... that would feel very weird! Like you said, very unnatural.

Some of us don't need to play with a stick, others play with it for us

. I'll try to burn out this fire... or else it might get ugly as all MT vs AT discussions do
He never stated AT>MT. He just concluded that MT's should (potentially) be able to out-trap AT's given a stock for stock G or a same modded G's, which I agree from many experiences. But he also stated that he believes the ET's are usually similar. Which I somewhat disagree, only because the AT's have a less aggresive FD [in stock form].
It's all in the gearing people! Either way, I would not choose 6MT over an AT for performance. It's all about having fun, which all comes down to the driver.
There you go. Case Closed... or else this might turn into an ugly battle
So... how about the Caravan?
PS. Klumzyee, look at what you started!

No in a straight line the AT maybe faster then the average MT Driver.. However there is a lag from the point the driver pushes the shifter + or - til the clutch packs phsyically enguage so shifting an AT at the ideal peak is a big harder then shifting a MT.. Also if MTs just we can power shift the hell out of the cars (more wear on our parts). Now this only applies to shifting up and down.
Your AT trans works off of pressure (hydraulics if you want).
Clutch Pack 1 = X amount of pressure
Clutch Pack 2 = X amount of Pressure
etc..
For a trans to down shift your throttle pressure (how much you step on the gas) must over come the ?speed pressure? (= to speed (mph)) - i'm sure there a better term for this to create and down shift.. other way around for an upshift.. easy right? okey so lets say you want to get to the lowest possible gear (so you can accl and try to beat the MT, jkjk) you're going to step on the gas (+Throttle pressure) or:
It'll need to "shift" through 4th and 3rd to get from 5th to 2nd.. vs the MTs we just step on the clutch, gas and move the shifter..
so yes ATs do technially "shift" faster but takes longer to do so =P
also the 03-04 Gs did not rev match..
on the sidenote.. calvin did you already get your car back?
