Just received a confirmation from Nissan Sport Magazine that they will (obviously) be covering the show... but they will be doing features on the Editor's Choice winners for Nissan, Infiniti & Datsun.

Additionally, they are looking for a few other cars to give coverage to + you just never know if you will stick out enough to warrant a future article on your ride.

This a good chance to get some attention and see yourself in print!

Unfortunately, they will not be looking in the parking lot for cars to be in the magazine... just those registered for the show or participating track activities.

As Ted said, Nissan Sport will be looking for Nissans, Datsuns and Infinitis to be included in future magazine articles.

Nissan Sport will be selecting and awarding three Editor’s Choice Trophies. One for Datsuns, one for Nissans and one for Infinitis. Past winners have been clean daily drivers that are not extensively modified. Just ask GaryC.

They’ll be race car trophies so you can race and also be in the car show.

If you're car's not in the show or racing, you'll be in general parking and, IMO, that's no place for a G. So come on out, get your G in the show and support a worthy charity!

If I can make a suggestion on the classes.

The wild is not low enough. Having registered 10+ cars I think mine was the only one I put as wild. Stock could be changed to street or something cause so many cars end up in mild.

Too many enthusiasts think they have no shot at anything.

For the race trophies... there is a category for race "prepped" vehicle, which is a vehicle that people feel best fits the race prepped theme, but may or may not be on the track on Sunday. These cars must be registered for the car show, or it is not eligible

As for the "track trophies", these are categories for vehicles registered in the HPDE (ROVAL) and/or autocross, but do not have to be registered for the show:

TIME ATTACKS -ROVAL
1,2,3 Stock (Nissan/Infiniti)
1,2,3 Modified (Nissan/Infiniti)
1,2,3 Unlimited (Nissan/Infiniti)
1,2,3 Vintage Datsun

Autocross: Fastest Time of Day (Saturday - all brands)
Autocross: Fastest Time of Day (Sunday - all brands)

^May increase the Sunday autocross to 123 if we get a lot of folks dedicated to autocross, and not just stopping by in between ROVAL runs.

As with everything guys, its the registered numbers that count. We attend car shows just like everyone else and try to be as fair as possible and provide as many categories as possible... but we cannot promise 50%+ of the attendees a trophy.

On the other hand, if anyone would like to pay an additional $50, I will be happy to customize a single competitor category just for them that will guarantee a win!

As it stands, there are more than 40 trophies currently offered and you, the participants (not spectators), are the judges.

ROVAL / Time Attacks are for Sunday only.

Autocross has one for Sat (Speed Ventures sponsored) and one for Sunday. Team Transport/T4T show is covering the 2nd and 3rd place Autocross for Sunday since people have been asking for it, and there are a few people in the car show and autocross.

See... we try and meet the demand. We just can't be everything for everybody.

-T

P.S. T4TCarshow (& Transport for that matter) receives no $$ from the ROVAL or Autocross event registrations.

Not sure what you mean by the wild is not low enough? There are also stock and mild categories too. Besides, this is probably the ONLY show that enthusiasts can attend for less than half the cost of the big shows, and have a chance at seeing themselves in a national magazine (even if its a group shot). Team will most likely see themselves in print, which in itself if they have sponsorships, can make their registration worth it.

Again... the more cars registered, the more we can slice and dice categories. If I had 50 G35 coupes registered, you can bet that there would most likely be a 5AT VS. 6MT, or Revup vs. non-revup categories.

The scions asked me to break out Gen1 xBs vs Gen2 xBs. I'd love to, and even put it on the list... .but they need to register the cars to get that. Extreme, HIN, Showoff, all of those shows will tell you the same thing.

Look guys, it took me and G35Lin nearly 2 years (that's close to 20 shows!) to get an Infiniti category at the major shows. For 2 years we competed in the "exotic" or "Nissan-all" category. Even with their major sponsors, those shows are slow to add under-represented categories. It represents real $ to open a category for trophy costs and administration. Help us, and we'll help everyone!

BTW... we all remember that this is a charity event, right? Heck the classic rods go to shows, pay $45 get a tshirt and there's only 5 or 6 trophies for 400 cars.

Final count (although I do have a couple registrations that are pending payment) ...

G35 =27
G37 =1
350z=14
FX's = 6
Various Datsun's = 5

A couple of Maximas

and 2 "real" Skylines.

Registration for the event has now exceeded 150, for the car show alone.
Hopefully we will exceed our record toy collection of around 1400 toys.

As a result of registrations, here are the categories that will be offered (affecting N/I/D brands)

BOS Infiniti - Wild
BOS Infiniti - Mild
BOS Infiniti - Stock
BOS Infiniti - G35 Sedan
BOS Infiniti - G Coupe - Mild
123 Infiniti G Coupe - Mild
123 Infiniti FX - Mild
BOS Nissan (non 350z)
BOS 350z Wild
BOS 350z Mild
123 Nissan 350z - Mild
BOS 350z Stock
123 Datsun / Nissan 200 Series
BOS Nissan Maxima
Nissan Sport Magazine Editor's Choice - Nissan
Nissan Sport Magazine Editor's Choice - Datsun
Nissan Sport Magazine Editor's Choice - Infiniti

Also, our vintage/classic brothers have a classic import and special interest category that they can also compete in, and not just as their only category.

In case it's doesn't compute, that's nearly 50% of you taking trophies home for the car categories alone.

=============
I dare you to find a show that gives this much love to G35's and 350z models.

Stillen Days: 400+ cars, $5 burgers and 3 trophies.

Extreme Autofest: Best Infinity 1-3 & Best Nissan 1-3, 20+ vehicles for a street vs. show class, 5+ vehicles for a category.

HIN/Nightshift: Hottest Wild Infiniti, Hottest Mild Infiniti, Hottest Wild Nissan, Hottest Mild Nissan.

DUB: 2dr or 4dr Import (period)

Showoff: Nissan Showoff (like best of show), 123 Nissan, Sport Import-Other, 6+ to open a class.
=========

Car show registration is now closed.
Thanks to everyone who signed up! Looking forward to a great event. Load-in instructions will be mailed out soon. All particpants will receive updates to their registered email addy's.

Cheers,
Ted, Team Transport, and the Toys for Tots Foundation

In all respect, who cares? Come on guys it's for the kids! Besides I think some people are getting there priorities mixed up here. When you go to a show it should be for fun to hang out with your friends or club and check out the rides and ladies. Yes it is good to win because it makes it seem like all your hard work has paid off, but don't let it be defined by a trophy. As I stated before IT'S FOR THE KIDS!!!! All shows are BS anyway every show favors certain teams and we all know it.

It was just a suggestion, nothing more. You guys seem to be more receptive than the other shows.

Yes it is not about the trophies or the wins, and yes this show is for a good cause. Yes this is a forum to discuss stuff.

I'll admit being wrong for suggesting something.

^^My bad dude I didn't mean anything towards you or anyone else, I was just implying that it shouldn't matter what categories there are since the most important thing is the kids. I do understand how you want to make it fair on the judging which I agree, there wont be that many stock cars there since i'm sure everyone has more than tint and wheels and it will bump everyone up. Maybe making the stock class body kit, wheels, tint? I get what you are saying about that. I love your FX by the way, you got it bagged in San Bernardino at the Candy Factory right?

Thanks.. it takes about 4 months of planning, and nobody was more disappointed with last year's cancellation than me and ShadyJC. Kinda sucks, last year we had sponsors galore, but everyone procrastinated us into some serious red ($). This year, we sucked it up and rolled the dice. Everyone procrastinated, but we got the numbers. However, most of the old sponsors didn't want to gamble again (even though they got full refunds).

No worries man.. with us, its always about the registrations. The more cars, the more trophies.. and we hope as a result, more toys!

Speed Ventures used to give out trophies for all their events, but got away from that due to the administrative nightmare. When Nissan Sport Magazine approached them for the HPDE, it was originally going to be a 2-day event, but quickly figured that the N/I/D community just wouldn't support the numbers for a 2-day event (we're all slackers, in case you hadn't noticed So Sunday became the Nissan Performance Fest, and the Saturday folks just run a regular Speed Ventures track day - no trophies (with the exception of the Autocross)

T4T/TT actually snuck in the 2nd and 3rd place trophies for the Autocross, and I kinda forgot to mention it to Speed Ventures. Oh well, it'll make people happy that they killed their brakes and smoked their times for a good cause.

Again, thanks to everyone who registered on time, provided constructive criticism to make the event better and called with a few words of encouragement to either bring my blood pressure down, or keep me from smoking the exhaust pipe!
