Dang Shane, that sucks. So sorry to hear. I totally feel you though. I hated being slammed too much at times. Having to replace cats, y pipe, and getting some hangers pushed back making exhaust stick out a full inch further than it should pissed me off.
I'm really considering getting bags as well, funds are just too tight
Don't worry man, things will get better.

In car audio they use sound pressure meters and there are several and only one is used and scores are pretty much only considered "legal" with this one specific meter, the TermLab (costs about 500 for a used one). There are others that are close, but they are 1 - 3 dB off, and the ones you will find at Wal Mart, Radio Shack, etc, are horribly off, probably 5 dB or more.
So just like sound pressure meters, a meter for testing sound level/volume would probably be quite expensive to get an accurate reading. Please if proving something to the courts, it would need to be certified, otherwise you can rig the numbers or something.

No you have to get a certian test done. "J1169" it's like a state test, and the only kind the court/ref's will accept!

^^ooh ok , thats sucks and I assume you have to pay for that too huh? well just call up the court, if they want to give you a ticket they better provide a place to get it tested
