Increase Crime rates in Houston

Hi All

My next job might take me to Houston and I am concern about the rises in crime. I am considering Sugar land but I heard all the New Orlean transplants are bring their crime sprees to Houston. Is this true? I am considering dropping the job offer.

Thanks

Houston's a big town and regardless of where you are there will always be crime.

The rise in crime is typically in areas where you wouldn't live anyway. So for me (and I live here!) it's no big deal.

Sugar Land is a nice area of town.

We have "right to carry" round here. Which of course means I can carry a 357 to protect myself..... (If I had a permit)

It ain't that bad. Just stay away from the ghetto areas, but then that goes for all places. Yes, you can definitely tell if someone was from NO or from here, but for the most part you leave them alone they leave u alone. Sugar Land, Katy, Memorial, Uptown, Midtown, and the developing parts of Heights are good safe places. Also on the Northside like Woodlands or CyFair are good spots too.

Sorry. Didn't mean cy-fair. Cypress Creek? Somewhere just southwest of Spring and I don't mean Tomball.

Stay away from the SW side of Houston, but really anything can happen anywhere. I suggest when you move here get your CHL and buy one of these.

Sugarland is getting bad, people are moving more south already, Richmond/Rosenberg and more north, Woodlands. Move downtown safest place to be.Again depends were you're coming from?
