we are also working on a 74 vette that we are going to auto cross... All new ss fuel lines and stuff were run this past weekend. Frame was blasted and re painted. Working on all the arms and stuff this week.

anyone successfully removed the oem 6mt shift ****? i know the 06's had loctite from the factory and i've read about holding the shifter still while unthreading the shift ****, but after removing about 3 layers of skin from my hand (damn pliers) it still remains as stable as when i started

Try wrapping the **** in an old towel and using a pipe wrench or something that gives you some leverage. It will come loose. Oh, and make sure to turn it counter-clockwise.

Ye I took mine off drew. It was on there super tight. I had to get someone to hold the shifter with a vice grip and then I turned the shift **** wit some vice grips.

Be warned u will prob miss up ur stock ****. I know mine was missed up

not worried about messing up the oem ****, only replacing it because it is peeling already...might have to try a monkey wrench cause i couldn't get it off with 2 pair of pliers, couldn't find any vice grips either
