G35's at Motorsport Ranch, July 3rd, 2004
The date has been set. With looking at available track dates and peoples schedules, the date has been set as Saturday July 3rd, 2004. The MotorSport Ranch is a 304 acre facility located 14 miles South of Fort Worth, Texas on Highway 377. Think of the MotorSport Ranch as a "Sports Car Country Club". Most country clubs consist of activities that center around a golf course, these activities will center around a road course instead. The MotorSport Ranch is a place to explore the potential of these cars and for the drivers to develop and practice their driving skills on a 1.7 mile, 11 turn road course.
I have arranged a special club days for G35 owners. Due to the lack of a charter and tax ID for the G35 club, I will be handling all entries directly with Motorsports Ranch. Here are the details:
The minimum number we like to do is 20 cars, the maximum is 32. The cost is $95.00 per driver. This is the exact cost of the event from Motorsport Ranch including the insurance for the event. There should be one driver per car, no sharing of cars. We allow passengers on the two "lead and follow" sessions, but not in the later sessions. The lead and follow sessions are with pace cars and no allowed passing on the track. Helmets are not required during the "lead and follow" sessions, but are required for the open sessions later. MotorSport Ranch has a supply of helmets for rent for $10.00 each or you can bring your own. Helmets much mean Snell M95 or higher. After the Lead and Follow sessions will be a class room session. Then there will be 2 more 25-minute sessions with no passengers, no paces cars, helmets and passing only on the 2 long straights. Each driver and passenger is required to sign the necessary insurance waiver.
All participants must be there by 1:00 pm. You will need to go through a tech inspection before driving on the track. There will be an inspection day at Grubb's Infiniti fron 11:00 am ot 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 19th. If you are unable to attend the pre-tech, you can either contact me to get teched at my house in Richardson or be at the track at 11:30 am on the day of the event. Your brake fluid should be clean and clear. If it is black, bleed your brakes before coming out or you will not be allowed on the track. Deposits will be check written to "Motorsport Ranch" for $95.00(without helmet) or $105.00(with helmet) and must be received by May 22nd by me to get a place. The event right now is only for G35 owners. You do not have to be a club member to do the event. To particilate you must drive a G35 at the event. If I do not receive 19(I am entry #1) by May 22, the event is off. If I do not receive the maximum of 32 entries by May 22, I will then open it up for 350Z owners to get in with a June 5th deadline. The checks will be held until June 11th, when they will be sent to Motorsport Ranch for event payment. PM me with your e-mail address and I will forward the signup form.

So far 7 signed up. I will need 20 by May 22 to have this event. Remember that there is a difference from someone who just owns a car and an enthusiast. An enthusiast likes to explore the limits and a car, an owner...well, just drives.

The latest is that I am still waiting for entries to get in. I have 7 in right now, but a list of 21 who signed up but still need to get their entries in. I only have 1 more week to get entries in to do the event. The good news is that when I presented it to the Z club last week, I have 8 who want to do it, including Mike Quan the President. A couple already sent their entires in. I have a feeling that the event will be more Z's than G's.
Sorry to say this guys, but it is simply a fact that the average G35 owner is not the enthusiast that the average Z owner is. Just because some one likes a car, this doesn't make them an enthusiast. It is far harder to get G35 owners(in anything) to get involved than Z owners. G people are sayers and Z people are doers. I got lots of e-mails from Miata, S2000, Nissan 240SX and Nissan SE-R owners to try to get in on the event. When we had Miatas at Motorsport Ranch, we filled 50 slots in less than 2 weeks and the event cost almost twice as much. I will keep pushing forward since I am a real enthusiast and have the desire to do this type of event. I was hoping that the G35 community was similar to myself. Because of this, I may in fact be joining the Z club to help them put on events even though I don't have a Z or plan to get one. I still look forward to seeing as may G35s as possible try to beat up on the Z's at the track (I have one twin-turbo and a 6MT sedan that are entered), but the next one will most likely be one for the Z Club of Texas.

Re: G35's at Motorsport Ranch, July 3rd, 2004
I received an email from Loren today stating that the event has been canceled due to a lack of support. Thought I'd give everyone a heads up. Too bad, I was really looking forward to it...

I would have went if it wasn't during my vacation time I already had set.
But it seems we do not have alot of support on this forum for stuff like this. Tires, who cares if you hardly have any tires left, tear them up at the track and get new ones. You bought a Infiniti, you should have some money for tires.
2004 Infiniti G35S, 6MT, Premium, Sport, DP
Mods: JDM Clears, 20% tint, Z-tube, K&N Drop In
Track: 14.32 at 98.79 mph 2.2032 60ft
